Advantages: I love to listen to music.
Disadvantages: None
This review was really hard, I thought it would be easy when I first saw it but didn't realise how difficult it would be to think of all my favourite music!
1) Favorite last dance smoochie
Like many other people this has to be the first dance at my wedding, which is 'Thinking of you' by Sister Sledge. We chose this as it isnt your 'typical' sloppy love song, but when you listen to the words is a lovely song with a good beat!
2) Best cover version
comfortably numb by the Scissor Sisters, originally sung by Pink Floyd. I thought the original was rubbish (please don't shoot me all you Pink Floyd fans out there, I do like some of their songs!!) but I loved the Scissor sisters version.
3) Worst cover version.
There are many, many bad cover versions I could list here, but if I had to pick my worst one it would have to be against all odds by Mariah Carey, originally sung by Phil Collins. This song was played at a friend's funeral and had a lot of meaning to it; Mariah sung it and virtually killed the song with all her warbling and screeching.
4) Best Male Vocal
Jim Morrison from the Doors, he had a wonderfully haunting voice that could be as low and soft or as powerful and loud as he wanted it to be. Makes for a great singer and I love all his music.
5) Best Female Vocal.
I have to say that I think Whitney Houston has got the most amazing voice I have ever heard.
6) Best Group.
My favorite group at the moment has to be the Arctic Monkeys. When I first heard them I thought they were rubbish but once I started listening to their music I really grew to love them! I have been to most of their live gigs and think they are brilliant live. I love the lyrics to their songs; they are true to life and make me laugh!!
7) Most memorable Song.
This is Robbie Williams, Angles for me. Robbie dedicated this song to his mother who helped him through a lot of hard times in his life; this is why the song also means so much to me. My Mother has been a rock for me through some very difficult times and she is my 'Angel'.
8) Your Song.
Other than my wedding song as mentioned above, another memorable song is Coldplay, Shiver. The reason for this is that the very first night I met my now husband, he put this song on the juke box, got on a chair and sang this song to me, the words are very meaningful. I was quite embarrassed at his show of affection but it clearly worked as 6 years later we are now married with a 4.5 month old son!!
9) Best Female Vocal Performance
I think Madonna always gives a knock out vocal and dance performance at her concerts. To say she is 50 she can still sing and dance better than most young ones out there and she can certainly perform better!
10) Best Male Vocal Performance.
Lenny Kravitz, are you gonna go my way.
12) All Time Favorite Album.
Oooohh, this is a hard one, I have so many favourites!! I have to say the album I always have playing in the car is The Arctic Monkeys, my favourite worst nightmare.
13) Best Music Video.
This has to be Michael Jackson's Thriller, im sure many other people will also put this down. I just think it is a great song and the video keeps you riveted from start to finish, with the excellent dance routines. Come on now tell the truth, how many of us attempted to do the dance when we were at school, I know I did!!!!
14) Best Act Ever.
Basement Jaxx, Im saying this simply from the live performance they give. I have seen these live twice now and they are outstanding.
15) Best TV / Film musical piece.
I love the soundtrack to Trainspotting and Pulp fiction.
16) Best personal computer ( any ) music software.
Can't answer this one as don't use any music software.
Summary: Some of you will think its rubbish!!
