Advantages: How each and every class is specially designed

Disadvantages: your child not wanting to go home at the end of a session

I first heard about baby and toddler musical step class's just after my first daughter was born 2 years ago. I took her to my health visitors to be weighed and whilst sitting in the waiting room, i noticed a poster on the wall about a local group that was starting.
Intrigued and wanting to find out more i decided to take my daughter who by then was 5 months old.
When i arrived at my local town hall i was greeted my about 12 parents and their children, age's ranging from about 4months to 2 years.
The leader of the group introduced herself and told me a bit about what the group entailed. She explained that the specially designed classes show you how to help develop your child's
* creativity
* co-operation
* listening skills
* communication
* language
All through music and singing, it is not however like any ordinary music classes because they don't rely on commercial backing tracks - they use our own voices and musical expertise - and their teaching techniques are based on highly successful methods developed by the world-renowned Kodaly, Dalcroze, Suzuki and others.

Musical steps classes was first founded by a women called Cathy McCallum in 2002, as she wanted to offer parents something extra: an educationally sound and musically accurate curriculum which would really help with their child's all-round development.
and she believes that children need to be introduced to music far earlier than school, and they should be exposed to music as early as possible, ideally from in the womb. Singing to babies & toddlers is vital in developing their awareness of speech patterns and sense of rhyme - skills fundamental to learning to read and write.

During the first class, my daughter loved it her eyes lit up with excitement, hearing the different voices and sounds around her,we continued to go to the classes every Friday, and each session we learnt something new. As my daughter grew older she began to recognize different sounds around her and this helped enormously with her development, even things like nursery rhymes, got her clapping or tapping.

Like any other mum, i want the best start in life for my children research shows that making music, acts as a springboard to enhancing children's all-round development and well-being, and it's a wonderful thing for families to do together, at home we practice all the different songs we've learnt, and even their dad joins in.

I would throughly recommend 'musical steps classes' to any parent, as it's a real eye opener. It helps create a bond between you and your baby and at the same time they learn different skills through the art of music.

Summary: A great way to be able to bond with your child and learn at the same time
