The Nations Cup is a relatively new snooker tournament started in 1999. The tournament is between teams from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland. Each team consists of four players - typically the top three ranking players of the country and a wildcard. The format differs greatly from that of usual tournaments. Each match consists of ten frames, with all the teams players in action and each player must play a minimum of two frames. This in effect means two players play three frames each whilst the other two play two frames each.
