Advantages: Something to do on a Saturday afternoon, huh?, Great atmosphere, and you can meet alot of people, normally bald with beer bellies., Totty is very prominent at footy matches

Disadvantages: In the end, Forest ain't that good!, You have to pay to watch them ???

As promised, I have written an opinion in the Sports Category to mark a certain B’s birthday. Our own sports category guide celebrates her 28th today.

~~Intro~~

I have decided to write about a topic very prominent in my every day life – football. Not just football, but FOREST. The main club in Nottingham, arguable on recent form, and a discussion about which crops up nearly every day.

Well in my opinion the downfall of Forest started when they sold Stan the Man Collymore to Liverpool, you remember those good old days. Since then it has been a slippery slope down the league table, eventually falling off the edge in to the abyss. More commonly known as Division 1.

Out of the limelight of the Premiership big names have left, and the money hasn’t been there to bring any more in. However the fan spirit remains, and no matter how many boardroom sagas, Forest will always have upwards of a 100,000 lager louts cheering them on.

~~The City Ground~~

The home of Forest, and host to many of classic games. Here you can see grown men shedding tears, and lovely ladies getting their fun bags out. Thanks to the ever present chant of “Get you <fill gap with obvious word> for the crows”, you may call Nott's girls slappers, you wouldn’t be far wrong. It all adds to the carnival atmosphere in the on the banks of the Trent, around about 3pm each Saturday. Or at least when they play at home.

The stadium holds approx. 30,000 people and tickets start at around £12. Although you can get special match day offers for around a fiver a ticker. I.e. Tonight’s match against Bradford is only £5 to go and be a spectator.

~~The players~~

Not one house hold name, and even the slightly well known Bart is on his way. The best of the talent, in my opinion, can be found in Stern John. Brought up in Trinidad and Tobago, he has the capability to play at a much higher level.

~~Summary~~

Today’s Forest side are a far cry from the men who conquered Europe two decades ago, however if the team can find their form, and the board get it’s self together, the Reds may be back in the big time before you know it. Or at least by the year 2010 anyway.

Thanks for reading

James

(Disclaimer: No offence to the lovely ladies in Nottingham, and my heart is with Hucknall Town, who will be playing forest soon, if they carry on at this rate!)

~~Tonight~~

The latest score is Forest 1, Bradford 0. Premiership here we come!

You've not been to watch them this season have you? They're playing very well at the moment and if they keep hold of the youth talent coming through the future is rosy.

Jermaine Jenas .... Gareth Williams ..... David prutton ....... watch this space!
