Offline Shopping - hints and tips Reviews

Newest Review: ... these are alternatives; people try to press start and then bags. But there are also many instances where people fail to follow perfectly clear instructsions: -People think that "redeem" means "collect", that "re-use" means "brought" and half of people don't know the meaning of the word "quantity" while the other half think it must be the number written below the bar code. -People don't understand that "the wrong weight" can mean either too heavy or too light; If I tell them the machine has stopped because their bag is the wrong weight they insist on supporting it from there on in... more

When I worked for Sainsbury's I was tasked with attending self scan nearly daily so I know all of the issues people have with them. As a customer I do prefer to serve myself because it gives you more control; you can check offers, see the total so far without having to ask and you can be sure of getting nectar points for bag re-use. Self service does crash more than normal tills but 99.99% of the time that a customer called me over it was because they had misunderstood how to use it. Basically if the screen hasn't gone black with tiny white writing the till is working. The main reason people mess it up is poor instructsions: - Some ... Read the complete review

Being female I was designed to love shopping. Right? Wrong! I have learnt over the years that I want the goods without having to go through the stresses of shopping in the high street and supermarket. Certain things cannot be bought as easily over the internet where I have become accustomed to doing the majority of my shopping. Items such as clothes and jewellery need to be touched and tried on most of the time to ensure you are getting the right products. Having a teenage daughter as well as a toddler also means I am dragged round the shops whilst the older one chooses what she wants and needs. I love shopping but it can be a very stressful and tiring experience, especially if there's something you really need or want and you just can't find it. So here are my tips for making the experience a bit better! These are primarily suited to clothes-buying, but most will apply to other types of shopping as well: ~ Take a bottle of tap water with you (filtered, if you like!). Shopping is thirsty work and if you have to keep stopping to buy cups of tea or bottles of coke you won't get very far and you'll end up spending more money than intended. A bottle of water in your bag allows you to stay hydrated on the move, which keeps your energy up and doesn't cost a ... Read the complete review

I love going shopping, but not in the sales! My guide is for normal time shopping. Firstly, if you are looking for specific things, make a list. Its so easy to forget what you actually went into town for. Ive done it many times. Leave relatively early, the shops are less busy, and you get the best carparking space. In Southampton, theres free parking for 2 hours near all the shops, so get there early to get a space! If you are on a budget, just take the cash that you need and leave your debit card at home. However if your on a massive spree, a debit card is useful as you dont have to carry around a huge wad of cash. Always stop ... Read the complete review
