I have only just discovered this topic and would like to have my say on a topic which is controversial. It would be very easy to say we should not experiment and organ donation and removal should not be allowed. What I would like to see is strict controls over how donations are given, but we must allow for some “experimentation” otherwise how can we make progress? Now please read the rest of my review. Driving in my car today I heard a news story that doctors had managed to transplant a face from a recently deceased person onto another individual. I only caught the end of the item so did not have a full understnding of the circumstances about the case but it got me thinking about just what it menas to carry a donor card. This was something I had always thought of doing but never got round to until the day I took out a Boots advantage card and there was a place on the application form to say whether you wanted to register as an organ donor and I gladly ticked the box. I am not sure i can put enough in this to call it a details review but there wasnt enough room in the short opinion bit, but here goes. I believe the system should be the other way round you should opt out rather than opt in. Everyone is automatically a donor unless they opt out. The people who are against it, and they are entitled to their opinion, will make sure their name is taken off the list. Too many people want to be donor but will get around to registering or being a card carrier tomorrow. That could be too late. Think of the difference you can make if you were a donor, you will give someone else a tomorrow and many more ...
