Organ donation - a minefield of feelings, beliefs, uninformed and informed opinions!!! For me it has always been an easy decision, when I am gone I no longer need use of all the wonders that make up the human anatomy and while I dont people and families life can be turned around. Dont get me wrong, I am not looking to shift from this mortal coil for a good number of years yet but in times when you here of thousands of lives being lost in natural disasters, families being destroyed through needless violence and for anyone who has read the Darwin awards you just never know. What better eulogy than after you are not here your eyes still marveling at ... Read the complete review

Please place your tongue-in-cheek... The government is all set to introduce an organ donor scheme where instead of donors morally opting to donate their organs by filling out a carry card, incase of unexpected tragedy, we may be asked to 'opt out' with written consent and so taken as donors until we bother to opt out, moving away from that moral stance and towards the practical and apathetic. The idea is that if you're young enough for your organs and serviceable parts to be any good and you haven't opted out by sending off your form then the docs can effectively carve you up on the gurney for what they need. As we are always short of adequate donors, ... Read the complete review

I have only just discovered this topic and would like to have my say on a topic which is controversial. It would be very easy to say we should not experiment and organ donation and removal should not be allowed. What I would like to see is strict controls over how donations are given, but we must allow for some “experimentation” otherwise how can we make progress? Now please read the rest of my review. KIDNEY DONORS In my family two close relatives have had kidney donations. The first was in the early sixties when organ transplants were a very new thing. There had recently been a lot of publicity surrounding the very first transplant that had taken ... Read the complete review

Driving in my car today I heard a news story that doctors had managed to transplant a face from a recently deceased person onto another individual. I only caught the end of the item so did not have a full understnding of the circumstances about the case but it got me thinking about just what it menas to carry a donor card. This was something I had always thought of doing but never got round to until the day I took out a Boots advantage card and there was a place on the application form to say whether you wanted to register as an organ donor and I gladly ticked the box. Now my Advantage Card has a little donor symbol on it and I have even told my nearest and ... Read the complete review

I am not sure i can put enough in this to call it a details review but there wasnt enough room in the short opinion bit, but here goes. I believe the system should be the other way round you should opt out rather than opt in. Everyone is automatically a donor unless they opt out. The people who are against it, and they are entitled to their opinion, will make sure their name is taken off the list. Too many people want to be donor but will get around to registering or being a card carrier tomorrow. That could be too late. Think of the difference you can make if you were a donor, you will give someone else a tomorrow and many more ... Read the complete review
