Advantages: No road tax? I cant say thats a major advantage given the solution for it.
Disadvantages: All listed, with road rage, cost and stress being the top 3
I used to love driving. I used to love getting in my car and driving. No idea where, i just drove for a random amount of time for the fun of it, maybe to see some mates, maybe to go browse the shops and sometimes even to just use the free air and water machine at a local Sainsbury's. Now though, all travel is essential, it costs too much, the fun is gone, and the way Road Laws are changing so fast I need a new highway code every 4 seconds.
I have never been a fan of pollution, believe me i hate it and im not someone who thinks its ok to just carry on the way we are going but thats the problem: we cant have that balance anymore. In order to have fun we need to have lower fuel costs, less worry about global warming and then in turn, everything is cheaper. Unfortunately thats not the polluted disgusting world we live in today, and thats where it all begins on the long road to global wipeout of the earth.
But then i realised something, if i was a millionaire, and global warming was a myth, i still wouldnt enjoy driving as much as i used to. Speed cameras are ready to pounce at every blind corner, road rage is out of hand completely now, there are accidents and road deaths happening every single day, traffic flow is being ruined by excessive amounts of vehicles on the road, creating traffic jams, creating yet more accidents. Pollution is out of control in cities, cars are less fun to drive with all the gadgets and gizmos that help you drive and new laws are being passed all the time to put the strain on motorists. It doesnt matter who you are, how much money you've got, or what you drive, this will all have an affect on the way you drive, and what you see on the roads each day.
Recent government talk was about privatising the british roads and abolishing tax, i am completely against this because i will need to plan where i can and cant go in my own country, its like living in North Korea, its not freedom anymore. A tax disc is an unlimited pass to go anywhere and everywhere. I pay my Road Tax, I get the use of the roads in turn. Perfect. End of.
Motoring is becoming more dreary, hated and agressive in my life. Take for instance road rage, i have experienced it before, seen it before and if you havent, check some youtube videos out. Search road rage. People decking one another for cutting someone up, smashing mirrors for queue jumping, things like this are making it more stressful and an unwanted part of daily life. At least for me anyway.
Summary: We cant put a stop to most of this, but what if we tried?
