Oxford United F.C.Newest Review: ... and hence him resigning, meaning that first team coach Darren Patterson would take on the role as manager. -The Stadium and the Crowds- For a non-league ground, the Kassam Stadium is extremely impressive, but then again had we been in the Blue Square South and been scheduled to come up the ground we have would have meant we wouldn't have been accepted into the Blue Square Premier as the ... more |

Having painfully witnessed the U's get relegated at the end of the 2005/2006 with it all coming down to the last game, a home tie against Leyton Orient at the almighty Kassam Stadium, I thought that I would write a piece about my beloved Oxford United and life in the Blue Square Premier. At the aforementioned game I felt that Oxford played their hearts out, however we just didn't have the strength to defeat a Leyton Orient side that despite securing promotion to League 1 with a 3-2 win over us looked pretty poor. That's neither here nor there however, and now in our second season in the Blue Square Premier, we just don't seem to be making any changes to that. Currently ... Read the complete review

'Thank God for Halifax' was the fan's chant in the final game of the season that ended with Oxford finishing in their lowest ever league position, fourth from bottom of division three. Halifax were the team that ended up losing their football league status, but there have been fears that Oxford may do next season unless the team improves on the field. How different it all was at the start of the season though in August. The 2001-2 season was greeted with great optimism by the Oxford fans. There was excellent new Kassam Stadium that Oxford finally moved into, with a 12,000 capacity and much better than many first division grounds. The club had a ... Read the complete review

As a long term Oxford fan, it pains me to sit and watch Final Score of a Saturday afternoon. Gone are the days of playing the 'big boys' - away to Rotherham will never have the same appeal as visiting the likes of Old Trafford, Highbury etc... Not all teams can be successful all the time. The mark of the fan is to show support every time the team gets on that pitch. The amount of grief I get of a Monday morning in the office (surrounded by Liverpool & Everton fans) is amazing. Yet as a Proud Southerner, I should surely get more stick for supporting the team that's winning. But this isn't the way the fans see it! For all our victories, ... Read the complete review

Now, Im not an Oxford fan. I have been there twice this year. Once last season (99-00) to see my beloved Wrexham put 4 past them without reply and again in October to see Wrexham Score another 4 past them as well as conceeding 3. Now, you cannot survive at any division, never mind Division 2 letting in goals like that. 2 Games. 8 Goals. That is bad. Where is the problem? Well, its not the Strikers. They actually look quite menacing and dangerous with a sniff of goal. Its not the midfield as they seem to control the park from time to time. Its in the tactics. Long ball is now dead and buried and confined to Conference football and below. Passing is the ... Read the complete review

Oh dear! Oh dear! What a fine mess Oxford United have got themselves into! After being relegated last season they have started this season with a poor show. They have a habit of loosing home matches and just cannot keep the ball out of the net - THEIR net! What happened to that great team containing players such as Aldridge, Houton and Saunders? The team that had the silver in their cabinet for a season? Okay, maybe they were not that great but much better than the team they are today. They need a sharp cash injection from somewhere. They have a half built new stadium which will hopefully bring in more supporters but has been left ... Read the complete review
