Newest Review: ... our V5 document which we obviously don't hve until we have moved, and so when we moved in, we popped a sign in the window saying we were waiting for our permit and our address so that when a parking attendant saw it, they could pop over (it is about 3 ft from where we park) and we could show him/her a bill with our name and address on...or so we thought. There is nowhere else for us to ... more

Premium Review Parking Fines and Clamping: PArking Tickets: My permit hell! (739 words)

I am in two minds about Parkin Tickets. I have just moved into a new house which is opposite a very busy hospital, and so you need a parking permit to park there, which you get for free if you live there along with 2 visitor permits. A parking attendant comes around everyday without a doubt and they are very strict. Now I will say for the residents who live in my street its great as parking spaces aree scarce as it is without people from the hospital parking there and taking up our spaces, but the only reason the council have enforced these permits is so that they know they're making money from the hospital car park and people aren't getting to park for free. ...  Read the complete review

PARKING FINES - When will private companies stop taking money from people too scared to protest? I am writing a review about may experience of a parking ticket I was issued with on the 29th January 2009. The car park is for people who use the local doctor's surgery. I attended the surgery with my daughter last week for a minor eye complaint. She was issued with a prescription, which we took across the road to fulfil from the chemist. There was a queue and we said we would walk around the block and come back which we did. On returning at 5.50 the chemist door was locked and the lights were off (even thought the chemist shut at 6.00.) ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Parking Fines and Clamping: The whole system is a web of mirrors (592 words)

Parking fines are a huge resource for local authorities, in some boroughs I would suggest that other than Council Tax, the most revenue made is from parking fines and clampings. Unfortunately, the whole debate really is a double edged sword. In any busy area, it is necessary to have parking restrictions, imagine trying to get a bus on Oxford Street or anywhere in Central London if people could park on it, traffic would be at a standstill in many areas due to the narrow driving space and accidents, both driving and pedestrian accidents would rise. So parking restrictions are a necessary evil, they aren't always so bad, some are in force for ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Be very afraid in a carpark (299 words)

I went into Boots to buy a toothbrush. This Boots shares a private carpark on the outskirts of Hayle, a small town in Cornwall. It is thought that when building they underspent on the amount of parking space needed. I came out to find a rather large uniformed guard taking a photo of my car. He had put an A5 sized red and white card under my windscreen WARNING that I had infringed the rules - vehicular obstruction among other things. He said I was lucky not to be fined £80 and if I did it again I would be. I had parked over the white lines - the car park was by no means full. What has it come to when a little old lady buying a toothbrush is threatened ...  Read the complete review

Parking Fines and Clamping: £125 fine for wheel clamp is this justified (150 words)

I must admit I do not believe in clamping unless someone parks dangerously. I recently was clamped in Morecambe on a private car park , I was only popping into a shop near by I was only minutes. I would have paid a fine of £30 but I nearly had a heart attack as the price was £125 to unclamp. I felt that if I had been a 6ft 2in body builder I would not have received the same treatment .As it is I am an old age pensioner and that amount is more than my old age pension per week which pays all my bills etc.I believe you get less to pay if you mug an old lady so where is the justice in this system, The wheel was clamped immediately I left the car park which stinks,I am ...  Read the complete review
