PatriotismNewest Review: ... voted for. And I quote: "I don't have to tell anybody who I vote for. Nobody does. That's really cool about America". The Republicans see themselves as the true American patriots, older by age (and sadly wrinkled by prejudice), the bastions of the countries flag. These guys were bought up on pledging allegiance to it every morning, in school, church and the work place, the proud ... more |

Remember Remember the 4th of November... Wow, who would have though it, a Blackman in the Whitehouse. Even I had a tear over that speech. There was a superb picture on the front of The Times the day before the vote of both candidates silhouetted, as black as the night, wearily walking up to the lectern one last time to implore votes from frazzled voice boxes, at least equal in print for that one small moment. That picture told so many stories. Not only was this presidential election about race but it was about patriotism, what's best for your country over your politics, enough of the race hate put aside so America can move forward once again. That one ... Read the complete review

Patriotism has become quite an obscure concept within Britain since joining the EU, we have basically given our country over as if it is not actually a country anymore but rather a state within Europe. Firstly I believe patriotism is over in Britain because to become British you don't actually have to do anything, if you come from another country and live in Britain for a while you are automatically British and can recieve a British passport, or you could just marry someone who is British. So are you British if you have a British passport or do you have to be born and bred here? Personally I think you have to be born and Bred in Britain as well as your parents, ... Let me start by saying I LOVE Britain and absolutely NO offense is intended. But as much as I love Britian, I do not understand it on many levels. Those of you familiar with my reviews probably realise I am American, and possibly aware I grew up mostly on Army bases where flag and country were very important. This is all very true, from standing to the national anthem at the miltiray cinema, to stopping the car, and getting out at attention for the raising and lowering of the flag, and all the other little ceremonial bits that military life brings. But being American, and raised as one, though living for years in foreign lands with visits to several others, it still ... Read the complete review

I thought that it might be an opportune time to start a discussion on this topic as with a world cup fast approaching we are soon to see an abundance of English flags bearing the cross of St George all over cars and house windows as well as the rather unsavoury sight in my opinion of people wearing my countries flag as a pair of shorts something I find both distasteful and insulting. Growing up the flag of St George has always had right wing conertations in my mind as it was often only seen being held aloft by some skin headed yob uttering vile words of racist hate surrounded by a group of policemen who were the only thing standing between him and his cohorts ... Just a short review on this website ?Cross of St George?, yes, in the vastness of Cyberspace, this small and unique site is devoted to the cause of English Nationalism! North of the border ask someone his/her nationality ? Scottish, rarely is the word British used, it is the same in Wales, they consider themselves Welsh! Nothing wrong with that at all, but have the English been duped into feeling British? Is the United Kingdom united? The site states quite clearly that it is not for racist nationalists. If you want to debate politics in the UK, Sport, History and Culture then go and give the site a look. There are plenty of intelligent arguments, and there ... Read the complete review
