Plans for Summer 2009!Newest Review: ... to say I never thought I would enjoy a holiday so much nearer to home. It was relaxing and we were extremely lucking to get warm sunny weather. I had wanted to go on a last minute deal away to the sun however it was really expensive £2000 for a week away to Portugal and I just thought it was ridiculous so the plans were aborted much to my other half's dismay! I have wanted to do so many ... more |

The summer is soon running out and autumn will soon be approaching. The weather hasn't been too bad this year with fairly a good amount of sunshine which meant days to the beach. Though the water was still absolutely freezing and unless you had a wet suit it was hard to go in never mind stay in the water. My plans were: * to go to the beach (at home) * to go away to Portugal * to go to Dublin for a weekend * get my house painted * my mother wants me to go to Rathlin Island with her * have a BBQ and party at our new house * grow my vegetables * sort out my garden This year because we had already went on ... If you had asked me back at the start of May when I was planning what I wanted to this summer, you would get a completely different answer to what actually has happened or is happening as never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined the exciting but bizarre summer that we have had. And before you jump to conclusions we can't really blame the British weather for these turn of events. My plans were: ***A abseil down a 150ft high building in Newcastle ***Book mine and Mr Lools last minute holiday, chilled, yet plenty of sun and cocktails ***Lots of boozy weekends and BBQ's ***Camping trip to the Lakes ***Lots of crazy ad hoc adventures ... At the end of June when there was a (very brief) heatwave and we were promised a scorching July and August, I was really looking forward to the Summer holidays with my two young sons. We would go to the park, to the local village and feed the ducks at the scenic pond, have picnics, play in the paddling pool..oh I had so many plans! So we are now into week 4 of the school summer holidays and I can honestly say we have barely done any of those! The main reason being the good old British summer weather -rain, rain and oh rain! We did go away to the seaside for a week, and were lucky enough that it didn't rain ALL the time..however out of 8 days we ... Read the complete review

The Pert Abacus Plan for Summer 2009. As many of you who keep up to date with current events will know Monkey Peter is currently on the run and is suspected to be in hiding at 14 Woods Lane, Devon (probably in the wardrobe of the 3rd bedroom) . This means that I'm pretty much free to go where I want this summer as long as I avoid the coast. This isn't a problem as I'd want to avoid the south coast anyway because of the smell. So I'm off to Edinburgh I think. I've never been north of the border but having seen Braveheart at the cinema I think I know what to expect so this is what I'll be packing: Woad Blue face ... Hurray - just about finished the packing and we're all set to go off on our Summer holiday tomorrow. So, what exotic part of the world will we be exploring? Don't get too excited - we're off to Butlins at Sunny Skegness! In spite of the tacky reputation, I have to say that Butlins (certainly the Skegness one) is the ideal place to take young children. In fact, this will be our third visit there over the course of the past six years which sounds a bit embarrassing but there is a reason why we keep going back. For our boys, a six year old and a two year old, Butlins is the best place to keep them entertained, regardless of the unpredictable British weather. There is just ... Read the complete review
