Advantages: A good squad of players

Disadvantages: Quite a few are nearly 30

Charlton Athletic have got a few good players in their squad and I think they have a good enough squad to have another good season this season. Below is my opinion of their best 11:

Goalkeeper – Dean Kiely

Dean Kiely is a decent keeper and I think that he will keep quite a few clean sheets this season, like he did last. He kept 19 clean sheets in 51 games, which is pretty good and Charlton will be hoping he can do even better this year.

Right Back – Luke Young

Luke Young signed from Tottenham after they decided to let him go. I honestly don’t know why they let him go because he is a young talented player and he played in quite a lot of Tottenham’s matches last season. He will become a good buy for Charlton.

Centre Back – Richard Rufus

Richard Rufus is now in his 9th or 10th season at Charlton and he has improved practically every season. He is another solid defender who rarely makes mistakes, but when he does, they can prove costly.

Centre Back – Mark Fish

Mark Fish used to play for Lazio and he is a very solid defender. He is a good tackler and I think him and Richard Rufus could form a partnership in the centre of defence for Charlton.

Left Back – Chris Powell

At the age of 31, Powell probably thought that he had a few years left of football and that he would spend them at Charlton. Well, last season, he made a shock England debut and played quite well. He is a good defender who likes to get forward.

Right Midfielder – Scott Parker

Scott Parker is a young midfielder who is still improving and is a regular in the U21 squad. He is a decent player who is good at tackling.

Centre Midfielder – Graham Stuart

The former Everton player is still playing some good football and he probably still has about 2 years left of football to play. He is a good attacking player and he can score goals.

br>Centre Midfielder – Mark Kinsella

Mark Kinsella is one of Charlton’s best players. He is a good all round player who likes to get forward quite often.

Left Midfielder – John Salako

John Salako is now in his 30’s but he is still showing that he is a good footballer. He has always been an attacking midfielder and has scored quite a few goals in his career.

Striker – Jonatan Johansson

The Finnish striker is a very talented player who scored quite a lot of goals last season for Charlton. He is a good finisher and he likes to try and score spectacular goals on the odd occasion.

Striker – Jason Euell

Jason Euell signed from Wimbledon in the summer for a fee of 4.5 million pounds. He is quite a good player and I think he would form a good partnership with Johansson.
