Sony's game streaming service, PlayStation Now, is live on PlayStation 4. Using technology acquired from its purchase of Gaikai in 2012, Sony's made it possible to play retail and digital PlayStation 3 games on your PlayStation 4, something the system couldn't do before. Though PlayStation Now will work on a slew of devices, including the PS Vita, Sony Bravia TVs and Blu-ray players, PlayStation 4 is the first device to graduate out of beta status, and our early tests indicate that Sony's off to a great start.
PlayStation Now can be used in two ways: monthly subscriptions and individual game rentals. There are currently two subscription tiers that offer unlimited access to over 100 PlayStation 3 games; you can spend $20 for a single month subscription, or save $15 with a three month commitment for $45. If you want a taste of PlayStation Now before committing to a subscription, Sony also offers a free weeklong trial.
As a whole, PlayStation is a great console. I remember the games for the PlayStation one so to see the latest games. graphics, sounds and everything just goes to show. That technology is moving along, ive not sampled xbox or anything but im not going to leave PlayStation games any time soon.
Ever since the first Playsation has come out I have brought sll the consoles that Sony has made. The first Playstaton was a step forward in gaming with it's great games such as street fighter which was a big hit. Sony and Xbox have always had a rivalry and this looks to change in Sonys favour as the Playstation 4 is released.
Let's talk about the playstation 2 which in my opinion is the best console that Sony made as I brought over 100 titles on the console and I had it for nearly 8 years. It was really good at giving me a gaming experience that I will never forget as the games were high qulaity and advanced for there time period. The Playstation 2 also had menory cards which were removable so you could use your save data in anothe console. The console was loud though when it started heating up whivh was a bit annoying because it would take over the noise of my TV.
The Playstation 3 was meant to be a rival for the Xbox 360 but it was actually quite similar in many ways. ThePlaystation 3 though had free online services which were sometimes unreliable. Sony had seriuos problems with ther security as hackers breeched there online services and stole credit card details from customers. This was a major problem for the Playstation 3 and many people switched to Xbox 360 as it was much more secure. The Playstation 3 was quite expensive which led many buyers away and the exclusive games were nothing special.
Now I am looking forward to the next generation consoles such as the Playstation 4 which on paper seems to be much better than the Xbox one. The exclusives on the Playstation 4 seem much better this time round and it will have a paid online service which should mean better online service while playing.
Even though i'm an Xbox fanboy, I haven't always been one. From a very young age I was a Playstation user, from the PSX up to the Playstation 2 and Playstation Portable. I changed to Xbox when the Xbox 360 was released and I was highly interested in the next-gen games that were going to come with it. The Playstation 3 was not released until later so it was more likely that I was going to get the Xbox 360 in the first place. This isn't a discussion about Xbox so i'll move on.
When the Playstation 3 was released, I was very disappointed. It was exactly the same as the Xbox 360 except with a different online service (which was free but that came with it's own faults such as poor online-quality and poor customer service), PS3-Exclusive games in which the majority were not that good such as Resistance 3 and an even more hefty price tag. I even encountered the problem of being unable to play Backward-Compatability games such as PS2 games then I found out that the first-gen of PS3 consoles couldn't play PS2 games at all. I was very angry and upset as I bulk-bought all of my childhood games.
I still have respect for Sony and their latest console and I always will do because I don't believe there should be anything like Console-Wars in which fanboys from both sides argue and fight over which console is better. That's just stupid!
I'm still a big fan of the PSP (Playstation Portable) and I hope to buy the latest PSP Vita very soon since it has Dual-Analog sticks and will allow me to play my favourite games on-the-go.
I think my love for Playstation has faded and I lean my love towards Xbox but I will always be a fan of the old Playstation games such as Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.
Playstation has always been a big part of my life, and they are better than microsoft in the way that they dont rip you off. For years i have loved their products right from the PS1 when i messed around on Gran Turismo crashing into things in my Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak. Problem is though, Microsoft have a better online community, i love xbox and PS3 but Playstation have this habit of making bad games. Xbox games are better and they have a wider range of great brand only titles.
Nonetheless with playstation you dont get ripped off, the internet service is free and more to the point, they have one of the greatest racing franchise series ever made (Gran Turismo). Playstation really make an effort when it comes to their consoles too, they think about every last little detail. For instance, on the PS3 they put 4 USB ports on. microsoft, only 2. On the PS2 they had an expansion bay. On the xbox, nothing. On their controllers they didnt have black and white buttons or nonsense "wasteful" buttons, it was just a simple design, they kept it that way for years.
Their controllers are a little less comfortable than the xboxones though and i dont like the shabby feel to them, i never have and i will always prefer xbox controllers but i think its a small price to pay for what is basically an honest brand.playstation has had a great number of achievements over the years, awards, new innovation etc but at times you have to wonder is their day really over?
Playstation came out with a motion sensor gameplay element, Microsoft trumped it with their own "no controller" one, nintendo are always trying to innovate in the same way that Apple are with their iDevices and these two rivals are starting to make me think Playstation will die off at some point when all the other companies take over where it left off.
Its been on the go for many years, since the nineties in fact but nintendo even longer, and Microsoft is the fredh blood. Who knows maybe all these names will die and tablets or mobile devices take over but for me personally, Playstation will always be a retro brand and will always be that console where i had fun gaming memories with mates. It is made by a brand i trust and even if it does die, it will go down as a great gaming platform. At least for me anyway.
Playstation is the video games arm of Sony Entertainment and is direct competition with Microsoft. I have owned both the Playstation and Playstation 2 however reluctantly converted to Microsoft's Xbox 360 when moving from the second to third generation of gaming.
I say unfortunately because I feel ome loyalty to Sony which although hardly a fair and honest brand definitely seems the lesser of the two evils where powerful games consoles are concerned.
One of the things that I base this on is that sony provide online entertainment for free whereas microsoft charge rather a lot for it.
There is however little to persuade people to buy playstation products now since there are better games released on the xbox such as halo which is not available on playstation platforms.
Playstation have however managed to hang onto Gran Turismo which is widely regarded as the best racing game. I also still play my playstation 2 quite frequently which despite signs of its age especially in the graphics is still working great and providing me with many hours of fun. I think that this acts as a testament to the epic achievements of the Playstation brand.
Playstation Is Good - Advantages: Good fun, Passes time, you can learn from it, Play station 1 not as expensive as some of the modern game systems - Disadvantages: Addictive, Not many games for Playstation 1, Games can be expensive
Playstation, what a naff name eh. In some countries it's known as the polystation. Both sounding just as bad, yet despite this when this console came out it broke all the rules. It was the first CD based console. Poor loading times but masses of storage space per CD really made this console what it is or was. The PSone as its now known was the predecessor to today's playstation2 and tomorrows playstation3. The PSone was favoured very much so and is probably still widely in use today. I bet you know someone with one of these. Their success was most likely due to the format of its games and the collapse of its biggest rival the Nintendo64. Nintendo still used cartridges that loaded fast but held little storage space. This mean's that games didn't have a full soundtrack or that levels were often truncated in conversions of PS games onto the N64. Another drawback of the cartridges was the sheer expense of them. I can remember buying Mario Kart 64 on the second day of its release; its price was a whopping £60!!! Compare this to the already established PSone with its brand new releases retailing at £40 (2/3 the price). It was obvious that this particularly Era (Playstation Vs. Nintendo64) belonged to the playstation. Its poorer graphics but cheaper and much more games made it the best console to own. With half the processing power the playstation proved for once that it was sheer quantity and not quality. Today the Playstation gets rebranded to PSone and the games prices have dropped to an astonishing price the average second hand game from gamestation being around £12 but prices can range from as little as £5 - £35 (new games). The price of the console is cheap too and can be brought brand new for as little as £59.99 and second hand at £35. Where's the N64 today? Second hand £16.99 (the games cost more, heh). Sony's playstation doubles up as a CD player that is of fairly good quality and build as it's produ
ced by Sony. The actual console itself is sturdy and can come in one of 2 forms, the old PSone and the new PSone. The difference on the outside being the new version more curved and even smaller in size. On the inside the old PSone was subject to having its lens easily damaged making a replacement necessary. On the new model this problem is almost non-existent and is to a greater degree sturdier. As those of you who read my opinions should know I always like to include a section about the dark side or illegal side of a consoles life. I am assured that both the old and new version of the playstation console can be chipped. This means discarding your warrantee / guarantee and placing a chip inside your playstation. With a bit of soldiering and tweaking your playstation can run import and copied games. The reliability of chipping a playstation one is quite good and the success rate of having your console chipped is good. However it can still be damaged and think carefully about the consequences before you chip a console. My advice would be to get someone who knows what they're doing to chip it for you (check your local market, prices are around £15, don't pay anything more!) Not that I condone this thing, of course. Copied games can be readily brought and can be as much as 50P in some cases and never go as far as £5. Also renting a game will never be the same again if you have a CD writer on your PC. What about this new TFT screen, then? Well for about an extra £80 you can splash out and get a small monitor for your playstation. This allows the use of your playstation without needing a T.V. Don't worry about the quality because after carefully examining (playing) on one I've decided that they're excellent. Some may even have speakers. Although your playstation won't be truly portable it does allow you to take it round to say a mates house and play it all night if they don't have a T.V. in their bedroom. I would suggest buy
ing the TFT monitor. It's simply brilliant and still relatively inexpensive. Rating: ------- TFT monitor (5/5) - Great quality ----------------- Playstation (3/5) - in comparison to today's modern consoles ----------------- Games (4/5) - Some excellent titles ----------------- Usability (5/5) - even if you upgrade to a playstation 2 the old joypads and games from this console can be run on that! ----------------- Expense (4/5) ----------------- ----------------- ----------------- Overall (4.2/5) approx. (4/5) ----------------- -----------------
I have had my Playstation One for 4 years and in that time I have had no problems with it. I brought the Playstation for £275.00 and got 4 games free Rayman, Worms and two more. I find this game console to be very addictive along with a good wide range of games. You can play music CD's on the playstation as well. I think the graphics are good and I really enjoy playing the Tombraider games. I have found the games have gone down in price a lot they are like £29.00 now whereas before they were £45/£50.00. They take memory cards so you can save where you are in a game, which is great. You can get steering wheels, which helps when playing car games as it's better and makes it more realistic than just the normal controllers. I have played on the Playstation 2 and was not impressed at all much perfer the orignal.
Now, for those of you who have not read one of my more recent reviews, I say something that has absolutely nothing to do with the object in question. This shall happen right about......NoW!: Charlie Brown. Now I have got that out of the way I shall now get onto what you want to hear. (actually read but hey, who cares?) The playstation is one of the biggest pieces in the jigsaw of what is todays gaming industry. It is up there along with Pong (the first ever home gaming thingy-majig) and The SNES (read my review if you know nothing about it. No not this review, its a different one. Go. GO NOW. unless you don't want to then stay.). Without it Sony wouldn't of Been the gaming giant it is today and if it would of stayed where it was ( did you know that at first Nintendo owned playstation but later got rid of it?) Nintendo would probably know own 99% of the worlds gaming industry and the world would be a better place. Or not... When the PS first came out I personally thought that it was a bit of a flop. On a good day, and I mean realy good day, The snes could probably equal that of a bad PS game. I mean games like Jumping Jack Flash and Loaded. If tyou have ever experienced any of these games you'll know how bad the graphics were. They ever had the cheek to make a sequel to these two flops. It grew from obsecurity in about 1996 when GOOD games came out like Tomb Raider with its heroin Lara Croft and Crash Bandicoot is also another big name star that made the PS go from the Flop Top To Top Ten The playstation, for those of you have been under a rock from the mid nineties (actually if you've been away for that long you would know about the internet. well you might. but most probably not.) is a grey games console that takes discs insted of cartridges. This was probably the first big console that took discs that was a success. The sega thingy disc playing thing didn't work so yeah, it was the first disc success
. As soon as Sony started to realise the massive marketing potential in the PS they started to make a new one. The PS2 was schedule for release in 199 (bear in mind it was 1996 at the time) but it got put back o 2000/2001. Long Story Short, The Ps was a success. The Gamers were happy, Sony were Happy. Other Console makwers were miserable the END!
Sony Playstation 2 is top of many people's shopping lists this Christmas - it boasts state-of-the-art graphics, a wide range of fantastic games and the best accessories around. Unfortunately, to get a decent package, you'll have to shell out over £200 - a lot of money in anyone's book. Furthermore, the best games cost between £39.99 and £49.99 so in order to enjoy your new Playstation, you're going to have to splash the cash. Thankfully, there is an alternative in the original PSOne. If you haven't already got one, I'd urge you to splash out on one, because it truly is an amazing console. I was lucky enough to get one several years ago, about one year after it was released and since then, I have had great enjoyment out of it, despite having a limited amount of games. You can get a Playstation for under £100, which is a very good deal compared to the price of a Playstation 2 or a new PC to play games on. However, on top of that, you should buy a Memory Card for around £10 and you'll also need some games. This is another bonus point of buying a PSOne. When I first got my console, games cost between £30 - £40 and I found it too much to be able to buy a lot of games. Now though, you can buy games for about £20, the same as PC games and it is therefore feasible to be able to build up a nice little collection of quality games without spending a barrowload of cash. Furthermore, there are several "classic" games now released on Platinum level, such as Gran Turismo, which you can get for £10 and this is a truly great deal. If I had to pick one combination to enhance your Playstation, I'd recommend you buy Gran Turismo and a vibrating "Dual Shock Controller" because this is a highly addictive combination. Obviously, if you've got the cash, you'd be well advised to splash out on a Playstation 2. But if you don't have the cash, or you're buying for a kid who's no
t quite old enough for their own PS2, then give the old Playstation a shot. Although it's slightly older, it's still a quality console and you can't go far wrong with it.
I was talking to my friend the other day. He said I should get a play station because it is not only a station, but yu can play on it. so i did. i went to this great little back alley shop. i said "how much is a playstation" and he said it was £600. i was shocked and so i asked if he had made a mistake. he apologised and told me it was £700. fair enough i said, but i want to make sure its the cheapest around. it is, he said. prove it i said so he got out a picture of a playstation with £1000 written in felt tip from another shop. i thought this £700 was a great deal so i handed over my money and now i have a great brand new third hand playstation!
As a student, you get used to having a few free hours each week, a time when you feel that you can't really be bothered to do anything at all, other than relax in a comfortable chair, maybe have a bud and watch the game...or play on a games console with a couple of friends for a couple of hours in the afternoon. I'm now on a summer break, which is fantastic and oh so very relaxing, but the PlayStation games console has probably kept me sane for the last couple of years!! It is a brilliant console that is over 6 years old now, but has had some amazing games on it over the years. It does look dated now compared to the newest machines like the PlayStation 2 and the Dreamcast, but in all fairness the PlayStation has been the console to own in the 32bit years. Made by Sony it has seen well over 800 games being released for it, some of which are just superb. It has 2 controller ports, but if you want to play a four player game then you'll have to buy a multi tap, but most games are 1 or 2 player only on the PS. The graphics from game to game vary - the early titles don't look that great by today's standards, but you can see how they have progressed and improved as the newest titles on the PlayStation all look good - nowhere near PS2 standard, but still good enough, with the game play being the overriding decision making factor - if the game plays well, then irrespective of the visuals, it's a worthy game to buy. I have around 20 games now, I don't play on many - just a couple of football games, but then I have played on my brother's Dreamcast more so in the last week or so, as now I am back at home I can make advantage of free accommodation and food!!! And of course the latest gadgets my siblings have bought... There are many styles of games on the console, which fall into many different genres - the main being: Racing - Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 2, Ridge Racer 1,2,3,4, Colin McRae Rally 1/2, Need fo
r speed - and so on, there are many superb racing games on the PlayStation, my most played is the GT2 game, classic. Sports - undoubtedly football is the most popular type of sports game on the PlayStation. The best football game is International Superstar Soccer Pro Evolution 2 - what a name, although the Fifa games are pretty good too. There are many NBA games, ice hockey; skateboarding - Tony Hawk's 2 being the best, and of course there is the mighty Track and Field game!! Fighting games - I am not a huge fan of fighting games, but there are many to choose from on the console - from Tekken 1, 2 and 3, to Soul Blade, Street Fighter and more - the PS has some good fighting games. Ready 2 Rumble, Knockout Kings... Resident Evil Style - loads of people found the best original PlayStation title was Resident Evil - a stunning game that now has 3 sequels standing by it - Code Veronica is not available for the PS, but you can get RE1, 2, 3 and Survivor... Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark 4 are very similar types of games - very good in my opinion...I love scary games! RPGs - role-playing games, best ones include Grandia, Final Fantasy - 6, 7, 8 and 9. Some have very intense story lines, but this isn't my favourite genre of game. Some other top titles include Driver 2, WWF Smackdown 2, Tim Crisis, Brian Lara Cricket and more! The PlayStation is a top games machine, is around £80 new, but can be bought for £40 second hand, and I would recommend to all. Thanks for reading.
The playstation is one of the best investments by Sony. They have made a lot of money from game consoles but the original playstation is by far the best and definitely worth the money. I waited for the playstation to come out for a long time and after a while decided to not waste my money and to just leave it, but that would have been a very very bad mistake because since I bought the playstation I have hardly ever put the controls down and neither has my son. The playstation has been out now for atleast 5 years and since then there have been many releases similar to the playstation eg. P.S 1, P.S 2, Dreamcast and a few others. A lot of people I know have one of the other consoles but the only differences between them and the playstation are the better graphics and the P.S 1 can become portable with the new visual screen. All the other consoles are very extortionately priced and hardly any of them come with a deal like get 2 games free when purchasing a playstation. So I believe the original playstation is fine for something to do, and if you weigh up the pros and the cons the playstation comes out top. The variety of games is great there’s every type you can think of. The genres range from shoot em ups to strategy puzzlers. Playstation games are not too pricey but some can be rather expensive. Most new games are roughly £30 and older ones can be bought from around £15-£20. The playstation is great to keep your kids quiet and for something to do when bored. These days you can buy the playstation for around £70, which is a great deal. Ok so there are some other and maybe better consoles than the playstation but the playstation is a definitely worth the money and provides the sufficient entertainment. Unfortunately there are some down points to the playstation such as when it is getting old it can tend to freeze and the laser can get damaged, but that’s nothing compared to all the good points.
So if you/your kids get bored easily then I recommend to buy the playstation because its great value for money, very addictive and time consuming, plus it only cost around £70!!!
The Sega Playstation is absolutely amazing. You can use it to play games on, my favourite Playstation game is Minesweeper. I would like to sing a song about Playstation if I may... This console is simply great Although all the games are late Its still number one But its not very fun And its about as good as my songs where the last line of it is far too long and doesnt rhyme with the first too anyway Ok, no more of that then. The Playstation is good for sending emails and you can also buy things online. The Playsation was developed by Juan Montoya who lives in the South of Senegal in a house made out of yellow bricks. It is a famous house and is well known to the public. People are allowed to visit and are given the best cookies to drink in the whole of East Anglia. Superb. I once went there and went in the window, only to find that somebody was there so I smiled and went in again. The Playstation was invented in 1942 orrignally by Sherbet Hubert Playstation. His plans were stolen by Juan and now we have what we have today. Amazing if you ask John.
