Dooyoo has impressed me so far and after a week of no writing I felt a burst come on so away I go ready to put forward my opinion, so what to write about this time? Well there’s a lot really but the fact is I have to put it into some brilliant op that will impress the readers, so what else to do then to do another one of my comparison opinions considering my last one was appreciated by adoring fans. Now for this match we are going to have a few commentators and set the scene as I feel this could be a regular part of dooyoo (the first ever comparison was HMV VS Our Price). So without further delay lets take you over to ringside where Barry Gates is in the ring ready to make the announcement. **Scene cuts to a jam packed arena where pyros are going off as the fans await for the main event** Barry Gates – “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, Biohazard proudly presents to you a new battle, you see it was after last weeks HMV VS Our Price battle that the attention of a grudge between Silent Hill and Resident Evil was pointed out, therefore we have shipped both parties over to the UK for a match” **fans go wild** Barry Gates – “The match will consist of 4 rounds, first round is on graphics, second is on gameplay, third is on fear factor and the fourth and final round is on originality.” **Moonlight Sonata hits as two commentators called TJ and JC sit down ready to make comments** JC – Here we go this is going to be a great fight as Virgin and Konami’s horror games do battle for the undisputed horror games title. TJ – And with the music hit it looks like Resident Evil is coming out. **From behind the curtain Resident Evil appears to a massive roar from the fans** TJ – Well it looks like Resi is the fan favourite. JC – And why shouldn’t it be? After all it is the master of survival hor
ror. **Resident Evil gets into the ring as Japanese horror music hits and Silent Hill makes there way out to the ring** Barry Gates – “Ok now both competitors you are in the ring, our panel is down there at the bottom ready to decide so without further a do let the first round commence, the subject being graphics” JC – So Barry has made the announcement and both teams are staring each other down much like HMV and Our Price did last week. Resident Evil – “We have graphics that vastly improve from sequel to sequel, they range from the blocky but still accurate first game to the advance Code Veronica X on the PS2” Silent Hill – “Yes but the fact is in both 1 and 2 we have created great weather conditions as well as brilliant pre-rendered characters and backgrounds.” Resident Evil – “But Resident Evil has more zombies on screen at once and its graphics surpass Silent Hills.” Silent Hill – “Justify that” Resident Evil – “Well if you look at a typical resident evil shot compared to a typical silent hill shot then you can see smooth graphics in Resident Evil but blurred jagged graphics in Silent Hill.” Silent Hill – “I think you will find that the graphics are not blurred but in fact fog.” Resident Evil – “Which is where I come to my next point Silent Hill’s graphics are somewhat shallow yet they use fog to cleverly cover up there errors and further more…” **ding, ding** JC – What an explosive round! Barry Gates – “Ok time out, lets go to the panel for the official announcement.” Panel – “After much deliberation we have scored the round, in alphabetical order, Resident Evil 9, Silent Hill 8” TJ – These teams are neck and neck with each oth
er and there is still plenty to play for. JC – But with Resident Evil having a one point lead and being such a solid team Silent Hill could be doomed already. **ding ding** TJ – The second round has commenced already, that’s a bit quick isn’t it? JC – With no announcement the fans cant be sure what category is taking place in this round. TJ – It is the gameplay incidentally. Resident Evil – “So it sounds like another ass kicking is in order here.” Silent Hill – “I was easy on you last round punk” Resident Evil – “The gameplay in Resident Evil is authentic to its genre as it does exactly what it sets out to do and that is to make a game that is enjoyable but at the same time has a high fear factor.” Silent Hill – “Gamers will never put the joypad down once this starts as you are totally immersed into the gameplay.” Resident Evil – “The difficult of Resident Evil is not overly difficult nor overly easy meaning that the gamer stays playing but doesn’t leave through boredom or frustration.” Silent Hill – “Silent Hill prefers to go for a challenge although the storyline is so strong gamers just keep on going.” Resident Evil – “it seems we are pretty even but as usual I am about to seal the deciding point as Resident Evil goes as far to have sub games to add to the challenge.” Silent Hill – “But we have different endings and weapons that you can use each time round.” Resident Evil – “So do we!” **ding, ding** Barry Gates – “The scoring has been counted by the panel and the results are as follows” Panel – “Resident Evil 9, Silent Hill 8.” JC – I don’t believe it the
score is the same again. TJ – With two more rounds to go that scores the game at Resident Evil 18 and Silent Hill 16. Barry Gates – “The next round will be round three and the category is fear factor.” **ding, ding** Resident Evil – “Dogs through windows, hands through walls, nemesis stalking you, lots and lots of things that will make you jump.” Silent Hill – “What you forget is Silent Hill speciality is to make its gamers feel fear. Resident Evil is merely a jump factor whereas Silent Hill delves that little bit further to create the ultimate fear experience, a perfect example of this is the characters, a weedy little every day man or a trained member of the police force, it speaks for itself really.” Resident Evil – “But those trained members of the police force feel fear.” Silent Hill – “Not really it is all jumps, Silent Hill has a radio that goes off when an enemy is detected, this scares you as tension builds up whereas with Resident Evil they just appear making you jump.” Resident Evil – “And no warning creates more fear.” Silent Hill – “Again this isn’t strictly true. You take a look at your average Resident Evil zombie and your average Silent Hill enemy, Silent Hill is more bizarre going for an abstract look making you sweat and…” **ding, ding** JC – My god I think I am sweating myself. TJ – That was some scarey s*** JC. JC – It certainly was, but the question is which one will win? TJ – All I know is I am not going to play Silent Hill or Resident Evil in a hurry unless I want to soil my pants! Barry Gates – “For the official announcement let me take you over to the panel.” Panel – “The results have been scored at Reside
nt Evil 9 and Silent Hill 10” **Silent Hill chants echo throughout the building** JC – Silent Hill has got the first ever ten and the crowd are going wild, that scores the game at Resident Evil 27 to Silent Hill 26 with 2 round to 1 to Resident Evil meaning that everything relies on this next round. Barry Gates – “The next round is about to begin and the category is originality.” **ding, ding** JC – Silent Hill and Resident Evil, which one will go in for the kill first. TJ – It looks like Resident Evil is about to speak. Resident Evil – “So you got lucky and won a round, what can I say fear really does have a new face.” Silent Hill – “Originality is another strong topic for Silent Hill considering we are the first ever horror game to take it that step further, I mean a standard enemy is a skinless baby holding a knife.” Resident Evil – “The thing that you must remember is Resident Evil has originality written all over it because we were the first ever survival horror game, hell we were the first ever horror that succeeded.” Silent Hill – “You may have been the first but we were the best and are still the best, you see we brought in a new life, storylines never heard of before, a horror game expanding from a small mansion to a large town.” Resident Evil – “I feel you cant vouch an opinion on being more original because the boss in the boiler room of the school is simply an abstract version of Resident Evil’s snake and the babies are like the zombies, as for the final boss that is just a joke. The game only expands to the town because you couldn’t come up with original rooms and layouts to match the massive mansion. The storyline is good but it isn’t as if Resident Evils is worse.” JC – Oh my god Resident Evi
l just counter attack all of Silent Hills efforts. Silent Hill – “Then again when you talk about copying you have Silent Hill released and miraculously the next Resident Evil (nemesis) includes a town.” **ding, ding** Barry Gates – “Well fight fans we have seen one hell of a contest in our second ever battle, but shows must end and winners must be made, this is where we go to the panel for our final announcement.” Panel – The round has been scored, after much thought Silent Hill 10. JC – Oh my god they have won the match! Panel – Resident Evil 10. TJ – What? That is impossible, we have a draw. Panel – This means that the final result is scored at Resident Evil 37, Silent Hill 36, two rounds to one to Resident Evil. JC – Well that is all we have for you this time although in the past week we have learnt two things, one Resident Evil is marginally better than Silent Hill and two HMV is better than Our Price. TJ – Until next time, good night!
