Advantages: Awesome, endlessly playable, addictive
Disadvantages: Seen as immature
While many see pokemon as an outdated fad reserved for those of 12 and below, I disagree. I was one of the many who was hooked at the beginning of the pokemon fad - my first games being pokemons red and yellow, and my addiction was born from the moment I plugged in the cartridge. The gameplay seems never-ending, with so very much to do. I do feel, however, that the apparent maturity of the games has decreased with each new generation of games...they started out, though a little childish, still quite powerful. By the current generation, you can see that ideas for new pokemon are running a little thin, with some of the new ones literally being baby versions of existing pokemon. I am not saying that the new editions are bad, not in the least, only that I can see why people have such a jaded view of what is ultimately an awesome series of games.
Summary: All around excellent
