Newest Review: ... Occasionally a smaller team will challenge mid-season but they do not last the course of the season. Boavista did it in 1999 and Braga look to do the same in 2000. The main reason why this elite band of three teams has arisen is mainly because of their achievements historically. Your average Portuguese football supporter doesn't help this though. I have been working in Portugal for the last few years so I had a bit of an inside look into their professional teams (and saw the national side play a couple of times) before Euro 2000, so it wasn't that much of a shock when they unexpectedly won all the games in England's group. Unfortunately for Portugal a lot of these very talented players ply their trade in foreign leagues (Luis Figo in Spain, Rui Costa and Nuno Gomes in Italy).
