Advantages: THERE NONE
Disadvantages: CLOGS UP THE DUSTBIN AND INFURIATES ME
Being a two person household (myself and my son) i am constanley amazed at the amount of black bags i put out every week for the council refuse collectors.
Why is this, no its not that we are constantley eating and needing to feed the kitchen bin with our left overs , its the fact that what ever you seem to buy these days it comes burried in layers of assorted packaging materials.
Whilst i appreciate that a certain amount is needed for particular products such as eggs for example , why does a tiny memory card need what seems like industrial strength packaging which is twenty times the size of the product it surrounds .
Whilst supermarkets are starting to reduce the amount of carrier bags dispensed at the tills , they need to now focus on the products on the shelfs why cant they provide paper bags instead of plastic for you to put your loose fruit in ,at least it would then degrade in our life time.
Or is all the extra packaging a cunning plan devised between the supermarkets and the refuse bag/sacks manufacturers ,oh i think that could just be my own overactive imagination .
Prehaps if we all discarded all the unwanted packaging at the tills the supermarkets and suppliers would realise we dont want all this unneeded plastic.
The products would cost less to produce which in turn should make the product cheaper for us to buy , we woud then probably buy more increasing the supermarkets profits
So everyone would be in a win win situation and of course hurray i wouldnt have to to jump up and down on top of my dustbins every week to force them to contain all the unwanted unnessasary plastic wrapping
Im sure my weekly shop can make it safley from the trolley into the boot of the car and quickly to my cupboard and fridge with out armourplated packaging
Summary: I DONT WANT IT SO DONT PUT IT ROUND EVERYTHING

- 27/02/09 It really annoys me at work when a knife and fork are delivered wrapped in 2 layers of bubble wrap,a plastic bag and then a box! such a waste x |

- 24/02/09 Trust me,if the supermerts could avoid packaging costs they would. First they have to get the product from A-B in *pristine* condition or *no one* buys it. Yes the companies want to label the product and sometime its OTT,but omnly bewcause the product owners want that. And finally I guarnatee you that if there were tencoconuts wrapped in cellophane and ten not,the ten wrapped would sell first. Humans want the best and the cleanest. |
