I, feels sorry for Mark Ramprakash, he seems to do well for Middlesex, but he can never transfer his good form from the county game to the international scene. He had an excellent test future, when he came on to the scene a couple of years ago. But, unfortunately he hasn't developed. He has been left out of the winter tour, which must be disappointing. If only he could get in, and score one good innings, that could give the confidence to go on, and perform consistently for England. A great shame, and in many ways a great waste!. This year he has the second best average in the county game. So, I cannot understand why he can't make it in the ... Read the complete review

I agree with Mintboy on this one to a point. Mark Ramprakash should never have been played as an opener. It is madness playing a batsman who doesn't even open for his county at the top of the lineup. Last summer Ramps was our best batsman. Batting at number six, he performed miracles with the tail, and sheperded some good runs out of the lower order. Now it seems he is making way for the impressive Markus Trescothic and the return of Nasser Hussein. Perhaps there is an undercurrent of feeling against Ramps, because I could not think of any decent reason why he did not tour in South Africa in the winter. ... Read the complete review

in recent years, england have been blown away by the great fast bowlers for one reason: their technique is not good enough. Stewart has started wandering across the stumps, atherton and hussain seem determined to get caught on the crease, and graeme hick likes to keep us guessing as to how he will get out. Mark ramprakash, along with michael vaughan, has the best technique in the current england setup, but he's blatently not an opener. Vaughan and Atherton should open, as vaughan has proved his ability to stick around time and time again, culminating in a 40 odd against the west indies, arguably winning england the test. So, get nick knight back into county cricket, ... Read the complete review

I’m really not sure whether it’s Ramprakash who is pants or the people that arrange the batting lists. I watch a fair bit of cricket and for Middlesex he is excellent where ever he bats (even as an opener) but I think we all know that he is no opener for England. He’s clearly a talented player being one of the top run scorers each year but he simply can’t make it at international level, bot because he isn’t good enough but because the team isn’t (I have no doubt if he was Australian he would have no trouble). Before you all start dissing my opinion I ought to explain. Mark strikes me as being a player who plays well ... Read the complete review

England continued to be blighted by the curse that is mark ramprakash. he is, without doubt, the worst player ever to play for England. His average is appalling and he has no bottle. Ramps is run a close second by Hick, whose fear of fast bowling reached embarrassing proportions last weekend. He ducks and dives out of the way. I remember Viv Richard batting without a helmet in th '70's when bowlers regularly bowled 3 bouncers an over. Atherton remains Englands only class batsman and his average is astonishing for an opener of a poor side. When you think that he has faced Donald, Ambrose, Akram, McGrath and others when they were in their ... Read the complete review
