Rangers and Celtic Football Clubs Leaving ScotlandNewest Review: ... such as the moving to England debate. Personally, I would prefer to see Celtic in a European league moreso than playing in the Premiership. The main reason behind this is that by Celtic, and Rangers, moving to the English Leagues, the floodgates would open for moves like this to happen across Europe and a European League would eventually come to fruition anyway in my opinion. However, ... more |

As a fan of Celtic who travels to around 90% of all games home and away, I have found that this fine club of ours has played a major part in my life. As a result I have many opinions regarding them and the various ongoing subjects, such as the moving to England debate. Personally, I would prefer to see Celtic in a European league moreso than playing in the Premiership. There has been an ongoing argument for a few years now over whether Celtic and Rangers should join the Premier League. This is based on the fact that the top tier of Scottish football has become incredibly stale with every season becoming a two-horse race. Of course this season is different because at the moment the two teams sit outside the top spot. Would bringing the teams into the Premier League achieve anything? In my opinion it would achieve nothing as the English Premiership is now becoming like it’s Scottish counterpart. The debate as to wheteher the two biggest sides in Scottish football should join the English Premiership, always seems to crop on numerous occassions. The two Glasgow based clubs, Celtic and Rangers, have been the dominant force for as long as I can remember in Scotland. They also dominate the cup competitions year in, year out with the other sides struggling to get a look in. The two sides regularly qualify for Champions League football, after advancing through the qualifying phases. They have struggled to make a serious impact on the competition, but Celtic have achieved a few very good decent results in recent European campaigns. They have ... Read the complete review

The last couple of years or so have seen football in Scotland go through a very difficult time, what with the disintegration of the international side, despite the appointment of former German manager Bertie Bogts, and the crisis situation which has arisen within the Scottish Premier League. A lengthy run of losing games was broken by a wonderful (!) draw against the might of the Faroe Islands, after fighting back manfully from a two goal deficit. Rarely has a Scottish national side been so poorly regarded. The days are long gone when gifted Scottish players were inevitably at the heart of the most successful English teams. Way back then Billy ... Read the complete review

As the new season has gotten underway, we see that Celtic are top after 2 games (being the only team already with a 100% record after 2 games) and Rangers blowing hot and cold yet again, the debate to whether they should be in the English league still rumbles on. Fair enough they are the best in their league and also would prove to be a formidable force in the premiership (so people say), but why should they compete in another country's league. After all we are a different country are we not? England,Scotland, and Wales were all seperate countries last time I checked so why let the Scots into our English league? Hang on I mentioned the Welsh didn't I? ... Read the complete review
