Advantages: none

Disadvantages: they're crap

The TV adverts used to say, "you can't get quicker than a kwik-fit fitter, and the wags changed it to something else.

I have recently had three experiences of kwik fit which make me think that the public is not being offered a reasonable service and once they have you on their premises, you are a victim.
Unfortunately, my car is a lease vehicle, and the leasing company, First National, has a deal with Kwik fit.

1. There is no concept that their customers time may be of any value. On all occasions I have used them I have been instructed to take a seat and wait. No time line was given for a job to be completed. On the times when I have pinned them down to an agreed time, the job has never been completed to the agreed specification of time. On my last visit there was evidence of other customers being told gross falsehoods about the expectation of parts arriving, jobs completed etc.
2. They are fronted by terribly nice young men, who are quite well spoken, and have done the advanced course in customer confrontation and defusing conflict. They are masters of stonewalling, and every complaint is answered by a deflection of the issue or one is told the matter will be dealt with as soon as possible.
3. There is evidence that they may not know what they are doing. On one occasion, a wheel nut was sheared off by their pneumatic driver, and was blamed on me for overtightening the nut manually - I ask you????? On another occasion, I was told that a loose catalytic converter shield would mean a trip to a main dealer, because only a specialist could weld stainless steel????????

There is a wonderful clipping at my preferred tyre and brake place about a kwik fit fitter who crashed a car on a test drive, and blamed the owner for having defective brakes - the reason for the visit in the first place.

remember, most of you have a choice

Good Op, I think you may just have a dodgy branch as I have used them a couple of times for small bits and they ahev seemed quite good, although I too have heard horror stories but then I have heard thsoe about main dealers too.
