Referee's have a hard time. And so they should. Matches are won and lost on decisions that referees make, and it is becoming more common for refs to be wrong. People say that a good player can swing a game. I agree with that, but so can a referee. I am saying this because I am a Carlisle United Fan (quit the laughter please) Two weeks ago we were playing Hartlepool and we were 2-0 up. Three very dodgy refereeing decisions made us lose the game, and there was no fault with the Carlisle team. They played fantastic, but the referee was a sham. The next week we played Chesterfield (top of the league whereas we were bottom) and we were winning 1-0. Two minutes of injury time added, fair-enough. Not fair then that four minutes was played and we drew the game. These incompetent lumps of lard in black are costing us our season and it is time something was done about it. A fourth official watching a TV and then in slow motion about dodgy calls would be an excellent idea. The linesmen are also to blame, and it is only too often when you see the ball hit the cross-bar and go over the line only for it not to be a goal. As the times go on, referees, in my opinion are getting worse, not better like they should be. They are not helped by the FA and FIFA imposing laws which are just stupid for the referees, but at the end of the day, the refs are the ones who have been trained and are on the pitch trying to referee a game, and they should more often than not make the right decisions. Something needs to be done, sooner, rather than later.

- 16/03/01 Great opinion, I agree with the fourth official idea, I think that it would be very beneficial to the game. |

- 16/03/01 If professional referees are wanted then they should be paid a professional rate. |
