Aaaaahhhh, the lovely chap in the middle of the park, and his two little assistants, don't you just love them?

Personally I would say, NO!!!

The standard of refereeing in football is just farcical, with important matches being won and lost by the men in black.

The idea, I believe, of a referee is that you have an impartial person conducting the officiating of the game to see that it is being played in a sporting manner. Or maybe I am wrong?

I have seen so many decisions that would have been laughable, if it had not been for the fact that they cost teams the match.

We have, for prime example, the situation when Mike Reid celebrated when Liverpool scored a goal. Impartial? I don't think so.

In Scotland we have too many cases of referees that are overweight and too slow to keep up, and I am positive that this goes on in England too.

The television replays show tackles that should be sending off's but aren't, players being booked for stating a case, and penalties given for performances of swan lake in the box.

I firmly believe that the matches should be watched closely on tv by the referee's governing body and that the referee's should be accountable for serious mistakes made.

Poor, old David Beckham for example is a case where a horrendous tackle leaves an influential and talented player not only out of the domestic season but also possibly missing the biggest tournement of his life, and what happened to the perpertrator of the foul. He stayed on the pitch until he commited another foul and was sent off.

Poor refereeing, no-one reading from the same hymn sheet, and a numpty in the middle of the park spoiling the afternoon for everyone.
