Oh dear someone gave me a chance to express my opinion you don't know what you've started now...

Let me start by saying that I was always a complete non-believer in any religion whatsoever!

I was christened when I was a child which was my parents choice and not my own, and occasionally went to church with both the brownies and Guides that I was a member of when younger. So I have been to church and listened to what people have to say, not like I've never given religion a chance.

One thing I have done as well that not all Christian's could possibly lay claim to is that I have sat down and read the entire Bible. So before anyone else like religious friends of mine have done in the past chooses to tell me that my lack of faith is due to uneducation I can assure you all that it is not.

My belief is that if God existed and was as all powerful and loving as many faiths will have you believe then why are there so many problems in the world. Why are wars breaking out worldwide due mainly to people's religious beliefs?! Why are people murdering each other in the streets, why are people abducting and harming children? And why are people suffering with illnesses such as AIDS and Cancer?! Why is God letting these things happen?! I would hate to have to bring up a child in today's society with all the drugs, Violence and hatred!

I have researched many different religions in my 23 years and one I cannot understand is the Islamic faith. I have read and watched many shows on this subject and I believe that the faith is a peaceful one but how is it that some people are taking the name of Allah and the religion of Islam into their Suicide pacts?! From what I can see in the Islamic faith it tells you that Suicide is a bad thing?!

It is people like these select few individuals that is making life harder for there to be more religious tollerance in the world as a whole. Because although I am non religious I do believe that everyone should be entitled to their beliefs and their own choice of faith and I see no reason why everyone cannot live together regardless of religion. I have friends who are atheist, Muslim, Christian, Catholic and Buddhist and I don't see any of them differently for their beliefs or religions and I truly wish that everyone else could see that religion doesn't make a person who they are it's how they act in the world and to others!

xxx

Summary: It's me voicing my opinion be careful!

QUOTE "Why is God letting these things happen?" UNQUOTE

Here's one of the best responses to your question I've ever read, which was sent to me by a Christian friend. It was in response to the same question put to Billy Graham's (the evangelist) daughter, Anne Graham.

"I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"

A s for "giving religion a chance" by saying you went to Church when you were in the Brownies and the Guides. Not what I would call "giving it a chance". But hey, that's your business.

A thoughtful review. I'm only young and I believe I still have a lot to learn about religion.

I agree when you say that most Christians haven't read all the Bible, they just tend to pick and choose the bits they like. For me, I am not interested in religion, I'm interested in knowing God. God is all about relationship, not ideas in the abstract. Everyone wants to be loved, not lectured, and that is the picture I read in the bible all the way through from Genesis to Revelation - the unchanging nature of the God who loves. Relationship not religion.

Than ks for the clear way you set this out.
