I would not regard myself as religious in the sence that i dont go to church and ive always had troubble with accepting the bible. I cant say that I have a major issue with religion in many of its teachings, i do however have an issue with it in exttremist cases.
I am going to concentrate on the bible for my review because im not an expert on religion and its my main focus of questioning when it comes to religion. Here are just a few ideas which make me think, perhaps will provoke you to.

I fully understand religion, people use it for hope, to help them through tough times, death in families and such. Religion gives people a saftey net to fall back on and i think thats exactly what religion should be used for, to help individuals. My only concern is that people are not questioning enough. I think it is kniave to accept something like the bible without questioning motives, reality, human beings, society and beliefs. As much as i like the idea of some spiritual form watching over us i cant begin to believe the bible.
I believe the social aspects of it, Religion plays a large role in the upbringing of children and the teaching of respectful behaviour and morals. I think this is a major advatageof religion, it teaches some very important morals which from a young age are useful to know about so i have no real issue with christian philosphy however i cannot believe the story of the bible. I just think people should question it more, why was it writen at the time? how has it changed over the many years and many language's? how can it be interpreted so differently? are we just looking to it for easy answers?A friend once said to me that in a thousand years from now people will believe Harry Potter has saved the world from Lord Valdermort...Made me smile
Playing on the idea that the bible was writen and a thousand years later has devote believers.
I havent really even begun to scratch the surface of religion, there are so many beliefs out there. I feel having beliefs is very imprtant to some people, helping them run their lives. I howevr really feel strongly that people should question their beliefs, maby not to find answers but to strengthen there understanding and perhaps strengthen their beliefs.
I also have a major problem with people who force their beliefs on others. I have had that tried on me and it made me question their motives even more, especially when i was asked to give money. Everyone is entitled to believe what they wish, aslong as it doesnt effect other people situations negativly. This links to extremists, people who let their lives be run by religion and the church and such. I hope these people will question, at some point, why they are controlled by their religion. I really feel people should live there lives for themslves.

Ovrall im trying to suggest that people should question the bible and religion more. I know i havent covered all forms of religion but i hope the same message is aplicable to all. Question what you believe, it can really help.
