Advantages: sense of belonging and understanding, developing knowledge
Disadvantages: too many views to confuse the issue
This is a phrase that has been used for years, who does it apply to? I've heard it said about jehovah witnesses tapping on the door, or people who attend church and admit to it. So is it ok to go to church or support a religion or not? It has almost become an embarrassemnt to say you believe in 'god' (or by another name if you are of a different religion). society tends to shy away from the subject. why has that happened? school children often feel it is 'uncool' to know anything about the bible and they say how can anything be true when scientists have stated that dinosaurs existed, and what about humans originating from apes, how can that be if Adam and Eve were created by God? Religion has raised more questions and caused more wars than any other subject and for what reason? Because other religions dare to be different from another? What ever happened to each to his own? Can we not learn from other religions, and find out what their view may be? This is what schools are trying to do, encouraging the children to talk about their beliefs and traditions. Can there not be a 21st century view of religion and faith. soemthing that appeals to everyone? We all have horror stories of 'faith' being drummed into us, either at home or at school or even church, but it any of it make us believe any more of the story? The church attendance has dropped a great deal over the last century, and youngsters seemd so disinterested in it all. Should the church be trying a more modern approach to reach the future generations? It's a subject that runs deep and wide, and no doubt raised many eyebrows or ruffled a few feathers.
