I am not religious, I do not follow a religion and quite frankly I don't belive in it. Why? I've never believed in God. If there was a God, he wouldn't let children die from cancer, wouldn't let his 'children' live in poverty and surely wouldn't inflict the world with plagues, earthquakes and the like. So for me, there is no such person as God. The Bible, in my honest opinion, is the biggest load of bull ever. Just someones idea of a long story gone wrong. In the words from a film, can't remember which one though, "The Devil and God do the same things - only God has a better public relations officer than the devil" Do I believe in heaven? Not as such no. I belive that there is life after death, I belive we all go to a better place and meet up with loved ones that have gone before us. I belive that once dead, the crippled are given full use of their limbs again in the next world. Is that Heaven? I don't think so - there are no singing Angels in my version of heaven, no Golden Gates to go through and no God sitting in a throne to welcome you all in. Do I believe in Hell? Sometimes I think we are all in Hell, but that's beside the point. I belive that evil-doers amongst us come back as a lower life form, having to live on this realm again and learning from their mistakes before being promoted up the chain ie: from Spider to Cat, from Cat to Dog etc. Why is religion such a big deal anyway? If you belive in God, surely you should be able to pray to him wherever you are without having to go to Church to do it? Religion causes so many wars and conflicts around the world that to me it's all pointless. Who cares if my neighbour is Catholic or Muslim? I'm hardly likely to go and put their windows through becuase they don't believe in the same things as I do am I? I'm not going to stone them in the street every time I see them because they
go to Church and I don't. Religion is something personal to all - if you believe in it then fine, if you don't, well that's fine too. I'm really not fussed. My beliefs don't conform with those of the church, but that's down to me. Sorry for such a waffling opinion, but everyone has their own beliefs, and if people can't accept them then that's their problem. There's no reason why the populous of the world can't just say "Hey, you believe in what you like, and I'll believe in what I like and let's all just along as friends' without starting mass conflicts about it.

- 06/05/01 Surely you must believe in a greater body other wise how would life after death be possable? death means the end of life. If you do believe in a higher body whats to say that it cant be called God???? I do agree with you on your disbelief i mean god created us so why would he let us die. But i think in some wasy you are being contradictory. All round a good opinion. I look forwards to reading more of your stuff |
