What is religion? Religion is faith. Religion is belief. Religion is opinion. How many religions in the world? Well according to a quick wiki-google search, there may be 20 main religions, tens of thousands of sub strands of these main ones, not to mention the thousands of minor religions. Premium Review Going to church doesn't mean you are a Christian!! (541 words)
by - written on 22/09/09 (Very useful, 40 readings)
Rating:

Introduction I was brought up by a Mum and Dad who believed in Christian values. Although my Dad did not go to church my Mum did, and it wasn't long before I was enrolled at the Church Nursery and Sunday School. Each night my mum would stand by me as I said my prayers. I even joined the Church Choir - but to be honest that was only ...  Read the complete review

Express Review on Religion

NO 'man upstairs'
My wee sister, the youngest child of our family, has now been told that their is nothing more the doctors can do for her. She has a brain tumor which is cancerous. the most agressive one at that too.
she's had so many operations ive lost count and is far to tired and poorly to do anything.
this all start last decemeber 08. its now august 09 and the only thing that is keeping her alive is her medicine. doctors cant even seem to get that right!
I haven't believed in 'the man upstairs' since i was 8, due to my own reasons.
What has happened to my family and my bofriends family over the last few years has confirmed that i am right.
Their is no 'God'. No one looks out for us in this life! Don't be fooled people.

Premium Review Organised religion, crime or control? (419 words)
by - written on 14/08/09 (Useful, 18 readings)
Rating:

I think my first experience of organised religion was around the age of ten, when I first stayed overnight round my friend Hugo's house. I knew his parents were devout Catholics, but at that age I barely knew what it was. Most of the day would be spend swinging on a rope over the river by his house, or winding up his sisters, playing with the dog, ...  Read the complete review

by - written on 27/06/09 (Very useful, 30 readings)
Rating:

Religion is probably the topic I am most confused by as it can be used for such much good and at the same time causes so much evil. I went to a Church of England school and was raised with basic Christian values but what I accepted as a child has only become more confusing as I have become older and I doubt I will ever figure out where I stand on ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Why gamble with Eternity! Go grab a Religion!!! (696 words)
by - written on 14/04/09 (Very useful, 207 readings)
Rating:

Ok sorry, but im going to take this discussion on a tangent. I want to discuss Religion and its, (if any) relevance in modern society. Religion or at least its dissorganzied cousin, has probably existed ever since early man first gazed in awe at the sun, or the moon. Logically speaking, one can understand how and why early man ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review My experience of Chrisianity (958 words)
by - written on 29/03/09 (Very useful, 127 readings)
Rating:

I am writing this review from a Christian Perspective. If you read my review previously I have changed it as I felt uncomfortable with the content. I went to a Church of England primary school where assemblies were everyday, during which you were made to sing and pray. There was hymn practice between once and twice a week and you had ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Religion: i dont believe (300 words)
by - written on 21/03/09 (Useful, 24 readings)
Rating:

To be honest, iv grown up in times when its actually acceptable to not believe in anything and have been thought in school to probably believe that God doesn't exist so its not surprising that that's what my views are now. Also I believe that most peoples impressions on religion are either installed and forced by their parents at a young age or ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Religion; take this it will all be better in the next life (642 words)
by - written on 06/02/09 (Very useful, 53 readings)

Is religion the opiate of the people? Karl Marx's original statement was used to refer the working classes in early industrial society, and back then it probably did function as an opiate for those whose short miserable lives where spent in the satanic mills of Manchester. Marx's point was that people would hope and pray for a better life , if ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Religion: Using religion as a weapon. (748 words)
by - written on 13/01/09 (Very useful, 84 readings)

I'm from Northern Ireland. Often synonymous with religion and the in-fighting therein I thought I would tell my thoughts on religion and divide. My childhood was very blissful, with weekends often going to cricket matches with my family, my father played, on the Ormeau Road, Belfast. The Ormeau Road I know now is an area of 2 halves. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review it depends (163 words)
by - written on 17/11/08 (Useful, 42 readings)
Rating:

Well yes, I think religion really is 'the opiate of the people' to some extent. And this correlates to the question if it is a crucial part of a society. If the society is well off, it probably isnt so crucial as if it was experiencing a lot of problems. When people have enought to eat, stuff to buy, and money to believe in, why would they need ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Do we still need Religion in the 21st Century? (569 words)
by - written on 11/11/08 (Very useful, 49 readings)
Rating:

I love talking to people about religion, and questioning them, playing devils advocate. I used to be fairly passive about all religions, i have as far as i remember been atheist, yet i thought it is nice for people to beleive, feel like their not alone sometimes, and to have hope. But then i got more cynical. Why should i not ...  Read the complete review

This is a question that has stayed with me since i was a young child, who attended sunday school, being the step daughter of a minister. by - written on 22/08/08 (Very useful, 39 readings)

I think as long as there are humans around there will be intolerance and violence, I think many things are used as an excuse for it and that "religion" is one of them. My experience is of having being brought up in a large devout Christian family and followed this way until I was in my teens. By that time things going on ...  Read the complete review

Religion the opiate of the people? Such a cynical view of things yet one that is increasingly popular in an increasingly doubting Western world. Religion gets blamed for all sorts of things nowadays. by - written on 28/06/08 (Very useful, 66 readings)
Rating:

Like everything else that governs certain peoples lives and philosophies, religion is a sensitive topic. Emotions run high at the suggestion of any debate involving religion, and tempers frayed if people feel that their ideals are being attacked by secular society. I can understand the feeling of ostracisation as well as anybody- we all have, to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I Just Don't Get It (759 words)

I'm not a fan of religion at all. I don't want to offend anyone but I hope that in the same way I go about respecting everyone else's beliefs on a daily basis, religious people will respect my beliefs. I think what bothers me first and foremost is that it's blatantly obvious that there cannot be seventeen different 'true' ...  Read the complete review
