Rescued DogsNewest Review: ... dog or pup. A rescue animal is never sold to its new owner, it is adopted, which means that if, and heaven forbid, the new owner fell too ill to continue to care for the pet, the rescue centre would rehome it again. I first visited a rescue centre fairly close by, but at that time, non of the dogs were suitable for one reason or another, i.e. too large, too old, or too ill. I was looking ... more |

All animal lovers will know exactly how devastating it is to loose their pet, be it a cat, dog, rabbit or mouse. There follows a period whereby it is unthinkable to contemplate getting another dog. "I can't go through all that again," is the usual reason one gives to any sympathiser who will invariably ask if you will be getting another. Five times I have been through that mangle, and each time found it equally unbearable to be without a four-legged companion. I always have two dogs, who will keep each other company whilst I slip out to the shops or have to be away for an hour or two. When one of them eventually falls too ill to, humanely, ... Five years ago my Black Labrador passed away and in the few months that followed I was very depressed and my other surviving dog, a spaniel, was very lonely. I ended up looking around my local rescue centre - Newcastle Cat and Dog Shelter - for a new companion. I was really heartbroken at the loss of my dog and found it difficult to walk around the shelter with so many dogs that seemed so noisy and boistrous. There certainly is a great satisfaction for doing the right thing when adopting a dog from a rescue shelter. These places are more often not funded by public donations only and receive no help from the government. They are not in business for the vast profits that many breeders receive, they are set up solely for the purpose of helping unwanted and mistreated animals to find the loving homes that they deserve. I adopted my first rescue dog as a teenager. I visited my local shelter and saw a rather healthy looking West Highland Terrier bounding up and down and greeting everyone with a lick on the hand. He had originally been placed in the shelter's boarding ... Read the complete review

It always annoys me when people tell me how much they have spent on buying a dog mainly just because its a hip breed to have or something. when there is so many dogs out there in need of re homing ( rescue dogs ) these dogs are usually free and most have nothing wrong with them, they just need a loving owner and somewhere to lay there head in safety and to feel wanted. rescue dogs make great pets a lot of them may of been mistreated r uncared for will appreciate your care more than any other dog. these are the animals we should be helping. i have had a recue dog and he was the best friend you could ever wish for. not just a dog at all. he relied heavily on ... The purpose of my review is to inform you of why people have to stop thinking that there is something wrong with a dog just because its in a rescue. I am speaking from many years experience as I have worked with animals all my life and I have always owned a dog and guess what they have all been rescue dogs. I have also worked in canine rescue centres for the past five years. Every year thousands of rescue animal come into shelter and 99% of the time it through no fault of their own the most common reasons are family reasons such as couples splitting, allergies, new babies, change of work commitments and a lot of cases are people getting cute little puppies ...
