Advantages: Full of love, Never tires of saying 'hello', Hours of fun

Disadvantages: Poo, Wee, More Poo

Not just resuced dogs either. We have had our pet dog Poppy now for about 9 months. We got her when she was 12 weeks, so she is still a puppy. As you can probably imagine, she has casued a fair bit of bother in those 9 months, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I can honestly see where the phrase "a man's best friend" comes from. Poppy is always so happy when we get home. Her enthusiasm is endless. She never tires of saying hello when you arrive home. Each and every single day she lets me know how happy she is to see me. I makes me feel nice.

And the cuteness......its almost unbearable, this is from a bloke who likes WWF and football and 'man's things grrrrrr'.
Just yesterday we were planning on going to the cinema during the afternoon. But Poppy was laid on the sofa and gave us such a sad look, as if she knew we were going to leave her for a few hours.

We got a video instead :)

And she earns her keep too. We were watching the above mentioned video last night when Poppy though she heard something on the garden. She immediatley broke out into the meanest bark you have ever heard. Normally when she "talks" she has a quite 'yappy' bark or she growls and grumbles. But not when she's on guard duty. She really did sound fierce. And her haunches went up along her shoulders. A proper little guard dog. I've heard that the biggest deterent for burglars is a barking dog, she we were really proud of her.

Anyway, this opinion is in honour of Poppy, out brilliant little puppy who we think is the greatest dog in the world.

We got her from a rescue home because we always felt this would be the best thing. We weren't especially bothered about a pedigree or anything so we thought we'd get a puppy plus we'd help out the rescue home by paying for Poppy and giving her a new home.

I'n not too sure what she is made up of by from the look of he
r she has doberman and rottweiler in her! She is a very handsome looking dog.

Its funny because now I say she's the best dog in the world, but we very nealy didn't get her. When I went to pick a dog (my girlfriend couldn't come because she wouldn't be able to decide!)I orginally picked her sister (it was Poppy and her 2 other sisters together. I left the rescue home to go and get the money and on my way back, just decided on Poppy instead. I remember putting her in her basket on the front passenger seats and getting ready to drive home. She slowly got up and crawled across to my lap and laid down. It was honestly love at first sight.

Everyone should have a dog because where else can you find someone willinging to give so much unconditional love and affection and happyiness, all for a can of pedigree chum a day?

I hope you and Poppy have a long time and lots of fun together. (Btw, you could easily add a paragraph or two about the difference between a rescue dog like Poppy and a bred dog if you liked, it'd be VU then!)

Oh, as you say nothing specifically relating to her being a rescue dog I could only assume she wasn't. Given the category a bit more about how this has affected your choosing her, and her settling in would be nice.
