Advantages: Good grades!

Disadvantages: Tired!

Revision can be hard work...to combat this you need to be organised. Organise your revision in the run-up until exams...as time quickly disappears.

First, set up and use a revision timetable. Input revision, reading, exam questions and then non-study commitments like your job, shopping, sports etc.
Second, ease the revision closer to your exams. This may sound silly but you will not remember anything new closer to your exams. Your be too stressed and tired.
Next, make use of course handbook, your lecturer should give you learning objectives, these may give you an insight into the exam.
Also, use past papers, if you look at the last three years you may see repeated topics or themes. Dont answer the questions, prepare plans. Get the lecturer or your course mates to check what is missing from your plans.
You may also wanna team up with a study buddy and question each other on topics or past exam question, the best way to see what you know, is to teach others.

Summary: Hard work but well worth it!
