Advantages: Tutorials are easier to understand, usually consist of examples
Disadvantages: none
When you are at uni, the modules are usually split into lectures, workshops(labs) and tutorials. When it comes to revising.. Your tutorial notes are the most useful. Even if you miss a tutorial class, always make sure you get the notes of someone. Tutorial notes are more easier to revise from, as they are more informative than your lecture notes. Lecture notes can be hard to understand when it comes to revision. So what you would do is, read your lecture notes, and then look at your tutorial notes for the corresponding lecture and things are then usally explained. Tutorials usually consist of examples. If your are studying a course that is maths orientated, your tutorial notes will have samples and after you have done a few of those samples, you would've learned on how to do a particular subject (or how do use that formula). Another useful hint for revising, is try to get a past exam paper. I wouldn't necessary say that should revise the topics that are in those past papers. What you should do is when you have done sufficient revision you should try to do that past paper as if it was a real exam (very useful if you have the answers to the past paper). I'm saying all this from experience.. Tutorials are a must..!!
