Advantages: You'll get the results you want
Disadvantages: Can be very tiring and boring
Nobody (in their right mind) likes revision - it's just one of those things that everyone has to do sooner or later. So how do you go about it? First of all you need to make sure that you really understand everything as your going along. This way, all you have to do when the exams come along is to remind yourself of all the stuff you've learnt. You'll have enough to do without having to try and understand the work. Make sure that you start your revision early enough so that you have enough time and don't have to panic, but not so early that you forget the stuff you revised at the beginning. Revise more than one subject/topic a day so that you don't get bored. It may be useful to have say all your geography revision stuff in one room and history in another room. This way you don't have to waste time packing and unpacking. Make sure that you take lots of breaks. You'll only get worked up and stressed if you work too much and by taking breaks you're giving your brain time to take in all the information. You may feel like watching TV inyour breaks but going for walks is better. You may not think so, but your brain is still working when your watching TV, but the fresh air and exercise of a walk will relax you. How you revise is up to you as an individual. I prefer working on my own as I can concentrate more, but you might find it helpful to have somebody who you can discuss the work with. Make sure you don't just read through books, notes etc; you'll probably only remember about 40% of the stuff so it's a waste of time. Try writting out what you've just learnt. This will make the information easier to remember. If your exams involve timed essays, practise writting some under timed conditions. This will help a great deal in the exam. DO NOT stay up all night before the exam cramming. This will only stress you out and make you too tired to do well in the exam. And finally, if at any t
ime you feel like giving up on the revision, just imagine yourself on results day!
