I'm not ashamed to admit I'm secretly a big geek, and I met my boyfriend through a role playing society at university. There are various different types of role playing games, so I'm going to give an overview of RPGs in general. Firstly, there's the less geeky option - the RPGs you can play on your computer. These is basically ... Read the complete review

Express Review on Role Playing Games (RPGs) in general
by H&H - written on 09/02/09

Role play is great fun and a good chance to express your imagination. If you want to take Role play further Live Action Role Play is the way to go, it takes the settings and role play from table top role play but adds ive action to the mix. So instead of just discribing your character you take on his/her persona, wear the cloths and carry the items, and when it comes to combat and actions you actually perform them be it fighting off a bunch of bandits or leaping tables.Check out Heroes And Heroines for a club based in the west midlands UK. It's a high fantasy setting running roughly 8 events a year and alway welcoming to new people.

When I was a kid I played at being a princess and a wizard and a god and riding a dragon and defeating evil and... Actually, I still do that as an adult. It's called role-playing, and it's a lot of fun. The clue is in the name. Role-playing means basically taking on a role, going off and having adventures. You can ... Read the complete review

LARP Heroquest Live Action Role Playing at its best (211 words)

I went along to a Heroquest LARP event. I had done Live action role playing before but never with this group. At first I was slightly put of by the fact that they were possibly the most expensive group in the UK. However from my first email enquiry I realised that this was a proffessional organisation who genuinely wanted my custom and ... Read the complete review

An Rpg, it sounds like a name of a gun from Quake or some other fps however rpg's or role-playing games are the life and blood of gaming. They are a truely different and brilliant experience. Unlike most other genre's of game rpg's provide depth and great character recognition. By the end of an rpg you feel truly ... Read the complete review

Live Action Role Playing. What images come to mind? Strange, unshaven men immersed in hideously complicated rules and many-sided dice? No, that's Dungeons & Dragons. Those funny historical things that people do on TV or at medieval fairs? No, that's battle re-enactments. Do not be confused. LARP is something completely ... Read the complete review

To be honest, I've never been quite the avid fan of RPG's that some of you, no doubt, are. I missed all the Final Fantasy games, and only managed to fit in a couple of Dragon Warrior and King's Quest games in between The Secret of Mana, and Zelda 64 and Skies of Arcadia. But although I've never really taken to ... Read the complete review

Back in the days before computers were common in every household, children found entertainment in various ways. One of which was to sit around in a circle and throw dice at each other. The intent was not to take out an eye or leave little indents in the childs head opposite. No this was far more serious, the role of the dice could leave ... Read the complete review

I have fought the bosses, saved the heroines, and saved Hyrule time and time again. Well nearly. (But why is it, I can never ever beat the final boss!!). I ... Read the complete review

Aha, seems I have a much broader spectrum of gaming knowledge than some casual rpg' gamers who just tend to stay on the consoles and never move off them and then lay claim to the fact that they, in fact, are RPG gamers. What a load of old fishy codswallop. Rpg gaming, back in the days of yore, when computers were the size of ... Read the complete review

A few suggestions if you are thinking about getting in to gaming. Ideally, it helps to start out by joining a group who know what they are doing - your local games shop may well be able to help you with this. (Games Workshops are especially good.) If you are going it alone, you need to pick a system. AD&D will give you ... Read the complete review

RPG or role playing game if you like, is just that. You play the role of a charcter. I think the reason these sort of games get so many people involved in them, including me, is because it gives a sense of life beyond reality. In other words it lets you live a life away from reality. Okay so you may say that RPGs are just a way ... Read the complete review

I feel that roleplaying has an unjustified reputation of being a collection of strange spotted teenagers and older men sitting around pretending that they have a life. I just have to say that I think that roleplaying has to be the greatest hobbie known to man, where else could you be slaying dragons one day and then shooting aliens the next.
