Room 101

Advantages: Happy if all these were sent in

Disadvantages: Sad if I have to continue experiencing my 5

I have read several reviews under this title recently, and got thinking about things that I would send there if I got the chance. I remember watching the program on television several years ago and often had mixed feelings about what the celebrity was condemning.

Below are 5 things I would happily send into room 101, at this moment in time.

Police sirens at night
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was lying in bed last night, it was just after 11pm and all I could hear were police sirens wailing. There were at least 2 sirens I could hear, but why? I live in a small town with not a lot going on! At that time of night there re not many cars on the road, so it's not as if the police cars have to get through queues of traffic. So why do they have to keep their sirens on for the whole journey from station to incident, and especially at this time of night! I lay there watching the clock and 4 minutes later it stopped.
If parties or general noisy neighbours make noise after 11pm it's frowned upon, but noise like this will only disturb a handful of people. So why can Police travel with loud sirens for as long as they wish at this time of night and disturb many, and quite possible 100s of people?
I have nothing against them using sirens when needed, i.e. at junctions or to highlight to traffic that they need to pass, and during the day when roads are busy then this is ok. But not at 11pm, when majority of people are asleep or trying to sleep.
Call centres
~~~~~~~~~
I'm sure that every one of you reading this has had experience with call centres. I can't stand the ones that phone me and try to sell me something. We never give out our home number and always tell them we are with TPS or BT privacy and they soon hang up. Thankfully we don't receive these very often.

The call centre which I really hate, are those that pass you from one person to the next, making you feel like you have been on the phone for ages, and at the end of the call, not got anywhere.

I don't mind pressing different numbers to get you supposedly to the right department, but how often do you get to the right place? I always listen carefully to the options and know that I am pressing the right numbers, but often end up talking to someone, who then has to transfer me to another department, only to be sent right back to the beginning.

Other call centres which really wind me up, are those situated in another country. I have nothing against foreign people as I have several friends who are originally from other parts, but when you need to discuss something technical, they don't seem to be able to understand some of the words I am using, many of which are fairly simple day to day words. I watched a program the other night called 'phone rage' which highlighted several problems we face when dealing with call centres. There was group of people in South Africa who were employed to answer calls from a car insurance company; you could see how upset they were when the person on the other end hung up, because they couldn't understand.

Call centres are needed in order to sort out certain things in your life, but call centres abroad set up to deal with UK companies needs to be sent to the room!

Drivers and their indicators!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have never experienced any road rage, but I do get annoyed by drivers who do not use their indicators properly.
Some drivers never indicate, and this is more noticeable around roundabouts. I am waiting at the junction and wish to pull out: I'm waiting for the car on the roundabout to come round so I can pull out, but no! They decide to leave before they even get to me.
The other type of driver is the one that does indicate, but does the complete opposite to what their light is telling me: for example indicting left at a junction but deciding to continue with the road ahead!
Drivers on motorways/dual carriageways need to learn how to indicate too, several times I have had to swerve slightly or press on the brakes in order to avoid a driver who pulled over without indicating.
I don't want all drivers to be put into the room, just those that can't indicate properly.
Wind ~ weather
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Over the last week, many of us have had to deal with the bad weather, the wind and rain. Boy!! Wasn't it windy!! I hate to hear the wind howling in the middle of the night as I causes me to lose sleep.

Whilst at work I have to do the school run, why does the weather always seem to be at its worse around 9 and 3. My son and the boy I look after have to sit in the buggy, but get blown around and really wet too.

When I came home on Wednesday I found not 1 but 2 fence panels had blown over! We lost one the last time the winds got up, and that was during the time when you couldn't buy a fence panel anywhere, now we have to go and buy 2 more and then try to replace.

As a keen gardeners wife I don't mind the sun and rain, but the wind is not needed, especially this strong!!

Cats
~~~~
It's not that I hate cats completely, as I think they make great companions for some, and they look quite cute (some do anyway) but the things I hate about cats are:
The noise they make when fighting: this is always in the middle of the night, and the noise is indescribable. It's a whinging, whining, screeching noise that really wind me up and has done since I was young. My neighbour had 4 cats, and it seemed like every night they would wake me up. Now in my own home many miles from the old neighbour there are still cats around, (I will never get completely away from them I know) but I don't get woken up as often, but when I do, I'm not happy.
The smell they make in the garden, there is one bush in our garden that cats love to go to, and if I have to walk past it I can smell this strong odour which I am sure has come from these animals. As well as this, finding a present from them in the newly dug soil is not a pleasant experience.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How many of these do you agree with?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sure that come next week I could easily change my mind and find something else that should be included.
Thank you for reading
