Advantages: A therapeautic rant for me
Disadvantages: I think my blood pressures up!
I've not long done things that make me smile, so heres things that get my goat!
Here are the things I would put in Room 101:
Spiders (in fact anything remotely bug like)
I have a completely irrational and overwhelming fear of bugkind. Anything with lots of legs sends me shivering. I have often been reduced to tears at the sight of a furry monster crawling around. To make things worse, I am so frightened of said beasties that I am incapable of getting near enough to them to remove them from my house! (This inevitably ends in arguments as I plead with my partner to oust yet another unwelcome guest) (Actually one night when he was out on the beer I had to ring my mother in law at 10pm to come and catch a horrible furry monster residing just outside my bedroom door!). These creatures are the bane of my life - I kid you not. I refuse to go into dark cupboards, sheds, attics or storage boxes for fear of encountering a spider, I scream out loud when a butterfly flutters by too close (how embarrasing - I'm not five!) and have been known to have a panic attack from seeing a piece of black thread on my top - honestly!. (Lets not mention moths - summers here and I'm gonna have to keep the windows closed!). I know its not fair, its my problem not theirs, but until I can afford some intensive hypnotherapy, the creatures are top of my exile list!
Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Salad Cream
To keep on with the irrational theme, interestingly enough I have a weird repulsion for the above sauces. I can handle a bit of BBQ, even Sour Cream, but somewhere in my psyche I cannot stand mayo, salad cream or ketchup. I hate the rare occasions where I make sarnies for my partner and have to touch the ketchup bottle, and must wash my hands if I get the sauce on myself. When I worked in McDonalds I had the cleanest hands no doubt - I was constantly washing them! Don't ask me why cos I just don't know, but I can't stand the stuff!
Polystyrene Ceiling Tiles
Urgh! Who ever thought these were stylish?! Why are they so blinking hard to remove? Why were they on every ceiling in my house? Why on earth do they still sell these bloody fire hazards?
Actually, I hate artex and wood chip wallpaper as well - banish the lot of them!
Gimmicky "buy a piece of the moon" gifts
Now, unusually I guess, this is one of those things that really sends me ranting. Who decided who owned the moon in the first place? I'll leave it at that or I'll be off on a rant.
Staff at restaurants/ shops who stand around chatting while you wait endlessly to be served. Self explanatory (can't you just feel your blood boiling).
Surveys where you answer about ten questions only to be told you're not eligible - grrr!
Politicians - in general. No it's not about you - its about the people of this country you overpaid clowns.
The fact times goes so fast when you're having fun and so damn slowly if you're not.
Really busy places. Such as London or peak time at the supermarket.
Television networks that cancel tv shows abruptly without a proper ending. Damn HBO for cancelling Deadwood one season too soon!
I'm sure there are lot's more things that really annoy me, but if I try to think them up now I may do myself some damage!
