I'm a grumpy not so old woman (Room 101)

Advantages: Nothing like a good old rant to get things off your chest!

Disadvantages: Shame it's not real!

For those who are not familiar with the concept of Room 101 - it's an imaginary room into which you can place the things of your choice and see them removed from your life. The things that wind you up, that grate on your nerves, even people / places that you would quite happily never see again!

I'm a pretty easy going person but item no 1 on my list has really set me off today, so I'm going to have a rant!


1. Loud giggling women in the work place

Everyone likes a bit of banter, but women constantly shrieking across the office about diets and shoes in an open plan office when people are trying to work does my brain in! And I am a woman before someone calls me a sexist pig!

2. Air conditioning in offices

Why?? What is wrong with windows? We have about 10 sunny days a year. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that we really don't need aircon in Britain's climate! Added to that the spread of germs - bin it I say!

3. Poor spelling and grammar

Could go on forever about this but my two pet hates are people using an apostrophe for a plural (banana's??!!!) and people saying should of instead of should have.

4. This new trend for teens (mainly) to listen to their music on their rubbish mobile phones without headphones. On the bus.
Invariably the rest of the bus then has to listen to some godawful dance music that sounds like its being sung by chipmunks. Or grime - yeah thanks for that.

5. Bands that have great records then when you go to see them live they change the composition of each song so drastically that every song is practically unrecognisable. Stand up Counting Crows, you know I'm talking about you!

6. Whistling

No idea why. I know it's mean of me and does no harm, but it just winds me up something rotten!

7. Beckham bashing.

Namely Victoria. Not everyones cup of tea, I understand that. However she doesn't really harm anyone, she's not falling out of clubs wasted and she clearly loves her family so who cares if she doesn't smile? Same comments about her everytime she's in the papers - yawn....

Summary: just a small selection of things that get my goat :)
