Disadvantages: These Things Do My Head In
Me and my dad had a conversation yesterday and that's what made me write this review tonight. He said about all the things that were irritating him at the minute and I remembered seeing this category and thought I'd stick my oar in. Whether you agree or not with them, these are my pet hates and I stand by my decision to send them off to Room 101.
Mothers who get their babies ears pierced. It's scummy and horrible. There's a woman who lives by me who got her 3 month old daughters ears pierced and even though I haven't got kids myself yet I wanted to shout at her that it's stupid and painful for the baby and eventually that little girl will get her earring caught and will rip her ear lobe. It looks so chavvy and there's no need for it because I remember getting my ears done when I was 10 and it was very painful so why do mothers want their babies to suffer for fashion like that.
The Playboy brand. It represents strippers and slags who spend their time with an 80 year old man for his kicks because he's rich so why do you want to buy your 8 year old daughter a top with the logo on. When my little sister was born my mum fell out with her mate big time because she brought my sister a babygrow that was covered in the Playboy rabbit logo and at the time I thought my mum was over reacting but now I don't think she was because I love my little sisters innocence and wouldn't want her associated with pervy Hugh Hefner. If you're an adult then it's up to you what you buy and wear but don't put it on your kids because it's not a good message.
The BNP. Enough said. I live in Birmingham and you probably know it's a proper multi cultural area and I love it like that because I find different cultures fascinating but in MY city these facists are causing havoc and creating a hatred that shouldn't be there. I know not every person in this world is good but that goes for white, black, asian and any other colour you can think of so why that repulsive Nick Griffin makes backdoor stabs at the minorites is sickening. In fact most of the anti social things you hear in the news are done by white youths so I reckon the BNP wants to start looking at the scum us 'white' UK citizens are breeding before laying the blame on another culture or race.
Political Correctness. Can I stick this in room 101 even though it looks like I'm contradicting myself on my last comment? I'm not thinking so much about race here but when we can't have the Xmas lights in Birmingham because it might offend the beliefs of ethnic minorites then it's deffo gone mad. We're a Christian country so why shouldn't we celebrate the main event in the Christian calender as we want to? I'm not religious at all and describe myself as agnostic but it's the principle of it for me that if I want to see a light of the baby Jesus then I should be able to without worrying about offending Muslims or Sikhs. In fact my mates cousin is a muslim and he doesn't see what the problem is anyway so it's just plain ridiculous political correctness.
Eastenders. Enough already. What a depressing show! It used to be good but now there's not a single character who is allowed a minutes worth of happiness, all marriages end in divorce and Stacy Slater. My god, how many trials can one 19 year old girl go through? If I was Stacy Slater I'd be in Broadmoor by now I reckon!
Old people with no respect for the young. This is one thing that pisses me off big time. My mum and dad always taught me to respect my elders but it's like a one way street now and I show all the respect in the world to my elders but I don't get a single thing back. Last week me and my mum were at a ladies house who I've only met a few times but she lived next door to my mum when she was growing up, the lady is about 65 and she sat there and slagged everyone under the age of 20 off as being the sort of people who would cut her throat for her pension money! She said this while looking pointedly at me and I was so shocked that I didn't say anything to her but in my head I was thinking you arrogant old cow, I'm not like that and neither are any of my mates but I reckon she's read a few newspaper stories and tarred all young people with the same brush.
Mcdonalds. They sell overpriced junk food and are single handedly helping make our kids fat. I love junk food like all young people but Mcdonalds is nasty food that I avoid unless I can help it. It speaks volumes to me that their salads can contain as many calories as a big mac!
The Hollywood Set. Not all of them, just the ones that are currently sticking up for the paedophile Roman Polanski. He's a rapist by current law, it might be statutory rape but he had sex with a 13 year old girl after plying her with drink and drugs and it doesn't amtter that it was 30 years ago, he's still a nonce case. I heard a bloke say on the news the other night that he's ashamed to be Swiss after they arrested Polanski, personally I'd be more ashamed to be openly friendly with a paedophile. There have been loads of the top actors come out in his defence including one of my fave actresses Whoopie Goldberg and I say they should be ashamed of themselves for speaking like this whether his victim has forgiven him or not. My sister is 10 and if ever a perv like this man touched her I'd want to stab his eyes out, not give him a lifetime achievment award.
That's it I suppose, or them are the ones that have been irritating me lately. There are thousands of little things I could put into Room 101 and happily wave tarra to them but I'll stick with them few because they're the ones that are doing my head in at the minute. Oh yeah, can Justin Timberlake go in as well? No reason, I just don't see the point of him!
Summary: This Is What I'd Put In Room 101

- 02/10/09 Great list, glad to hear a young view against playboy, it really winds me up seeing children supporting that brand.
Hope you feel better now. Ha Ha. X |

- 02/10/09 A very thoughtful list, one of your best reviews I think! I completely agree with your Playboy comments as seeing young girls with that appalling logo on their clothing makes my blood boil. |
