Today I've been feeling a bit grumpy, which has inspired me to write about my favourite bugbears. So do bugbear with me, I could get quite ratty!

1. Those stupid 'Child/Little Monkey/Troll on board' stickers. The vast majority of the people who have those in their cars think it gives them a divine licence to drive like an eejit! If you think I'm going to be more careful while you drive around like a boy racer on speed, you've got another think coming, sonny jim!

2. People who park in disabled spaces when they're obviously not disabled, nor do they have a disabled badge in their car. Yes, you may just be popping to the cashpoint/doing the lottery/whatever inane thing you're doing, but what if someone who does need a disabled spot whilst you're in there comes along and they can't get one because your car's parked in it??! I hate it when people do this and no, I'm not disabled myself, but if my lazy butt can manage to park just that little bit further away and walk to the store, why can't you? These people get a dirty evil death glare from me!

3. Drivers (these all seem to be about driving, don't they? Hmmmm...) who hog the middle or third lane on a motorway. In my experience, the M62 from west to east seems to be the worst for this. There's not less chance of you having an accident; in fact at night there's more chance, as the trucks driving in the first lane push any debris onto the other two lanes, so there's more chance of you hitting that. My response to these idiot drivers is to pull from the first lane into the second lane behind them, then into the third lane, overtake them and pull in in front, flashing my indicator, then back into the first lane, flashing my indicator again.

4. Bad punctuation/text speak. I 8 txt spk. It's for mobile phones, which is where it should stay, in my opinion. I'm extremely glad I've not seen any on here so far (fingers crossed!). I'm also annoyed by bad punctuation, but the saner side of me realises that this can be due to lack of education or a dyslexia-type affliction, so I'm more willing to let it slide.

5. My biggest bugbear of all is the misuse of the word 'ask'. Specifically, the people who say, 'It's a big ask'. Ask is not a noun, it's a verb. This has come across from America (which is where most of these things come from I think) and it's invaded the vocabularies of TV presenters, notably sports presenters (you know who you are, Eddie and Stevo!) and it continues to annoy me. Grrrrrrrrr...

So, having got that off my chest, I'm considerably calmer now. Rant over. For now...

I thought lanehogging was a southern thing - when I lived in scotland for a while it was a revelation for me how considerate most drivers are. Guess that's cos they've got more road...
