Advantages: I can breathe now that I've got my anger out!
Disadvantages: It reminded me of things that really irritate me!
I think I have found the perfect place to vent my feelings about things I don't like. I'm quite looking forward to writing my very own version of Room 101! So here goes....
1) The phrase `You can't have your cake and eat it'.
Ok, now where do I begin..deep breath.... I'll be extremely straightforward and just say, what a stupid stupid phrase. What else are you going to do with a cake? It is not there just to look at, it is there for eating. I could completely understand the phrase if it said `You can't have your cake and eat it, and have another one'. Now that would make sense. As the phrase stands at the moment it is just so stupid. The whole point of the phrase is that someone is being greedy and wanting the best of both worlds. Well having a cake and eating it is not greedy, it's normal. Why else would you have a cake and not eat it. It is not the best of both worlds to own a cake and to eat it. This would just be one world!
I can't stand this phrase at all!!!!
2) Stickers/Labels on brand new shoes
So, you've been out shopping and bought some brand spanking new shoes, ready for a night on the town. You've tried them on, happy with how they look and feel, decide you'll wear them on your night out, and oh.....there's a label on the bottom of the shoe which won't come off. How rude! It now takes a long long time trying to peel these stickers off tiny bit by tiny bit with your fingernail. With every attempt to peel you get a piece about 2mm off at a time. Then you sometimes get funny marks where you have managed to get bits off. My friend once gave me a tip of using your hairdryer on the label until it gets very warm and then peeling it off. It may help ever so slightly but I don't think this helps that much.
I just find it so frustrating, why can't they just attach a sticker that will peel off easily, or come up with a new method of labelling shoes. In this day and age you would have thought someone would have resolved this by now!
3) Misleading magazine headlines
How many times have the magazines OK!, Woman and Woman's Own and probably countless other magazines used extremely misleading headlines on their front covers in order to sell more issues? It is just not right and I think the editors should be embarrassed about it. Nearly every week on the covers of Woman's Own there is a headline about the Loose Women being at war with each other and when you find the article inside the magazine it's nothing of the sort. I really don't know how they get away with it.
Recently on OK!'s front cover there was a splash about Chantelle being jealous about her fiancÚ Alex Reid (which is covered nearly every week in OK!) and when I found the article it was a small piece about 100 words long hidden at the bottom of the page amongst a load of other articles of a similar nature. It was nowhere near what you would call a feature story and how they could advertise it on their cover is beyond me. They always try and twist things Holly Willhouby and Philip Schofield have said into something sordid and imply on the covers that they're having an affair but when you read the article nothing could be further from the truth.
It frustrates me so much. Outrageous.
Thanks for reading. Rant over!!
