Room 101- My Pet Hates

Advantages: Would rid the world of annoyances.
Disadvantages: None for me
If I was going to do a serious article on the things I would like to get rid of it would be full of things such as ending war and famine and generally making the world a better place. This is just a chance for me to have a rant about things that annoy me so much more than they should.
Dog Mess - there really should be a special punishment for people who allow their dogs to foul the streets. I understand it must be an awful thing to have to pick up dog mess - and it must really confuse the dog and make them wonder just why their owner wants to keep that - but the problems it can cause for other people who trample it into their house and the health risk to children must mean they really are not the brightest people we can meet.
Jack Dee- I just find that far too much of his so called comedy should have been left in the 1980s. All of it seems to be lazy stereotyping and I find it really annoying that he is on so many programmes I enjoy such as QI and Have I Got News For You.
Football expressions - some are a bit annoying such as sick as a parrot and a game of two halves - yes we know that it is - but there are some that really make me want to put something through the screen. Stonewall penalty is one of the worst. They may have stonewalled to get the penalty but the penalty is not stonewall. Silly nicknames and over familiarity with some players is another - why call Steve Gerrard Stevie G like he is some rapper, Carra as if the full name is too much to pronounce and then the former manager King Kenny. Sorry I have realised that this is just one team but it really does wind me up. Anyway the worst expression is probably "he was entitled to go down" NO HE WAS NOT!!! Unless the contact is so bad it is impossible to stay up then don't dive it's just cheating.
People leaving the door open - how difficult is it to close a door after you have been through it? If it was open when you got there fair enough but if it was closed the people already inside the room will have wanted it that way. Anyone who does that should be forced to sit in the draught that the open door presents.
Drivers not indicating - this always seems to happen at the busiest roundabouts and while some of us are sitting there waiting for our turn, people are shooting off at the previous exit without giving us the slightest clue that they are planning to go that way.
Drivers not parking in bays - with so many cars on the road it is hard enough to find a parking space so when I go into a car park and there are cars parked across two bays - and only paying for one ticket - then I really want to block them in and walk away.
Reality TV- having seen very little I probably should not go on about this so much, but having seen bits of the singing ones and the jungle one in other people's houses, I wonder what the next humiliating contest will be. Knowing that some people are only there because they are so awful and will be laughed at, makes me wonder about what the future holds for TV. The same goes for the judges who seem to think that humiliating contestants is clever when often they are either just hoping to make a career or celebrities doing something for charity.
Celebrities - maybe this is just me getting old but when the names of people going into programmes such as I'm a Celebrity and Celebrity Big Brother I spend most of the time saying "Who is that?" "What are they famous for?" Surely you have to be known for something other than appearing in a programme such as TOWIE or having an affair with someone famous before you can be classed as a celebrity.
Lastly, this is the one that annoys me more than any of the others so sorry if it drags on a bit.
Attitude to vegetarians - this is not a big issue and does not arise much but does annoy me when it does. I am vegetarian but it is not a thing I discuss. Friends obviously know and sometimes still make "jokes" such as asking me if I am getting steak this time - after 37 years some still think it is funny. Anyway that is not what annoys me. The problem is when I eat with people I don't know and through various interests this happens quite a lot. Once they see I have the vegetarian option they ask of I am vegetarian or have just chosen that option. Once I say I am their little eyes light up as they start with a barrage of questions. Do you eat fish? Do you eat eggs? Are you going to have gravy? Occasionally some are just making conversation but then as soon as I say I eat eggs others start off about them really being an unborn chicken so I am wrong to eat them and some even that I am not really vegetarian. According to them eggs are meat!!! I am still waiting for one to prove that they are not dairy. The most annoying ones then wait for the coffee to arrive and hand me the milk waiting to see if I use it as according to them drinking milk is the same as eating meat because "it all comes from a cow"
Quite why they think that they have any input into what I choose to eat is beyond me - I don't push my views so don't see why they should push theirs.
Anyway that is my rant over and thanks to anyone who has got this far.
Summary: Keep the door open they are on their way in.
