Advantages: Make me happy
Disadvantages: Be less to moan about over a pint
Well here we go room 101 has hit the target, as have many other people. I am going to try and limit myself to 5 things that I really want to go into the pot. Yes it is difficult to limit to only five but hey I like a challenge. 1. Hospital Waiting lists Yes I know that this is far beyond my control and no I am not blaming any one person, political party, or organisation but hey surely we can do something about this. Ever since I can remember the only thing with more people on it was the unemployment list. We can build houses, why not hospitals. We can make jobs interesting and well paid (well nearly) why not doctors and nurses. Lets sort it out and get the lists to be something you tell the grandchildren about, starting with….when I was a young 2. Political Correctness How many times has there been a court case about what something can be called. Bin Liners, Robinson Jam Logo, Nursery Rhymes, person instead of man…. the list seems to get bigger year on year. Yet most of the time it is the “Do Gooders” who are the ones that impose these views on us and expect us to accept them. They believe that they are doing it for the good of the “underdog”, no they are doing it because they feel they have something to prove. For years language has existed and evolved so why do we need to constrain it. 3. 10 items and less checkouts Oh I agree that these are great if you have ten items or less, you supposedly whiz through until you find that the ten people in front of you all have to pay by plastic or cheque. But this is not the real reason to bin it. The real reason is for all those people that have 11 items. Whoa now hold on there real dilemma time. Do you try and sneak onto the queue and hope that no-one counts as you empty your basket. Standing there as a fugitive hoping that the checkout person (see I remembered) isn’t going to tell you that you have more than ten, or give you a nasty look instea
d. Or do you just join the queue next to it with the people doing there monthly shop for a household of twenty, hoping they might let you go in front. Make all tills the same and let us choose where we want to stand. 4. Pelican Crossings No not all crossings, I think that the zebra crossings are great but why do we need to have the pelican ones as well. The problem is there are two types. Type one, the lights go red as soon as the button is pressed allowing about two cars through between pedestrians. They cause traffic jams when there is no reason. The other sort is that which takes ten minutes for the lights to change leaving you standing in the rain. The problem with both of these is the button. As a kid, yes we all did it, the button was there to be pushed whether you were crossing the road, waiting to cross the road, had just crossed the road it didn’t matter you just pressed the button. It isn’t just the kids how many times have you pressed the button only to find a break in the traffic safe enough to cross. Both leave the driver sitting there looking at a red light and no pedestrians it really does wind me up. Last but not least 5. Satellite Channels I love watching films and I will watch a film more than once if I think that it is worth it, but I do not expect to watch the film every night for a week, sometimes even twice a day over an entire month. With all the films that are around it must be possible to vary the schedule a bit more, we used to only get the classic movies once a year on Terrestrial TV (Star wars, Mary Poppins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and I think that was why they invented the video. What do the Satellite companies do, they introduce thirty or so new channels showing about 5 new films every hour on the hour for a month and then charge you extra to watch them. The point of getting satellite was for more variety. Yeah they have more channels but most of it is repeated at least twice a day
. SORT IT OUT There you have it my top five whinges, well for today anyway, maybe some of you agree. Thanks for reading.
