Advantages: None whatsoever

Disadvantages: Read op there are far too many to list

I was sat a work today pondering over what to make the subject of my next opinion - I looked in my lunch box but everything within it I had already written about so I tried to remember what other subjects I could write about that didn't require me to have product packaging etc with me, then it came to me - 10 things that really annoy me - I thought I'd find this quite hard to tackle as I didn't think I could come up with 10 items - amazingly I came up with loads more and had to whittle them down to the 10 that annoy me most.

The following are in no particular order as they all annoy me equally so I'd like to put them all in Room 101.

1. Revenge Raters

I suppose it is always going to happen, fortunately it doesn't happen that often, but it really annoys me when I've spent hours preparing what I consider to be a good quality, informative review which 99% of my readers rate as very helpful - but then somebody who I've just rated as fairly useful or not useful, and offered friendly advice to help them improve their writing, comes along and rates me as either fairly helpful or unhelpful for no apparent reason other than the fact that I have rated them lower than very helpful.

I accept that not everybody reads opinions in the same manner and I don't expect to always receive 100% VU ratings but if I have spent a long time preparing my work and they genuinely feel that there is something important missing from my opinion I would welcome their comments and advice but to just down rated me to UU or FU then bugger off, especially as they probably haven't even bothered to read my opinion in the first place, really annoys me.

2. Idiot Drivers

We all make mistakes when driving - sometimes we leave it too late to change lanes etc or we're not sure which exit we need to take off a roundabout and we get in the wrong lane - what really annoys me is those idiot drivers that can see me indi
cating but won't let me in. I'm sure that they are not all perfect drivers who never make mistakes - I get really annoyed if somebody cuts me so I don't do the same thing to others - I am always courteous to other drivers if they let me in and always acknowledge them, however be warned if you cut me up you are likely to receive a few nasty hand signals and if you can lip read you may be horrified to hear what comes out of my mouth.

3. Judgmental People

As you may know I am not a size 10 sylph like creature - I would dearly love to be but we are all different and we have to try to get on with our lives and accept what life has dealt us. I am not hugely overweight but I do need to lose weight.

I believe that life is for living and enjoying - why should I therefore be sneered at and have snide remarks made about me if I'm spotted enjoying a burger, cake or chocolate bar just because some nasty, skinny, judgmental person who knows nothing about me will look down their nose a me for it. For all they know I may have health problems that have made me put on weight - I don't but that isn't the point, I equally don't spend all day scoffing my face with crappy foods. I don't look down my nose at skinny people and make nasty comments about them so why should they do it about me and other overweight people?

Life is for living - accept others for who and what they are.

4. Being Ripped Off

My grandmother kindly gave us her three piece suite this weekend as she has had to move in with my Aunt as she is too ill to live alone.

She wouldn't take any money from us so in order to say thank you to her I decided to buy her a long term lottery ticket and a thank you card. I was at work all day today so I called into a small newsagents on my way in so that I could purchase the card and lottery ticket and post it in this evenings post. I did not bother to check the price of the ca
rd as I expected it to be reasonably priced - on average a similar sized Forever Friends card would have cost me around £1.50 - when I reached the till I was horrified that the card scanned at £2.59 - it is not even anything special - it just has a picture of flowers on the front and the words Thank You across the front - I expect I could go into Asda and purchase the same card for around £1.50 but I don't have time today so I relented an paid the £2.59 but it has bugged me all day that I've been ripped off.

5. Bullying

I was fortunate enough not to be exposed to bullying at school - however many children are and my son is no exception. For about 3 years on and off he was receiving a lot of stick from another child just because he was cleverer, they had been best friends but then this child was told he needed to have special needs classes he began to threaten Jamie, he told him that if he answered questions correctly in class he would be punched at play time - I approached the school at the time and received very little sympathy - they said they would keep an eye on the situation but it didn't get any better. Luckily in the next year the new school dealt with the problem and took it far more seriously - Jamie is only 9 now - many people think that bullying only affects older children but I have learned through my experiences that it can start at a very early age and can cause no end of damage to the child - luckily Jamie is one of those people who gets over things quite quickly and he has picked himself up, made new friends and is now really happy and doesn't suffer at all as a result of his experiences with bullying, sadly many children never recover properly from the effects of bullying and some very sad situations occur as a result of it.

6. Neighbours With No Respect For Others

My neighbours got themselves two dogs a year or so ago - to this day I have never seen the dogs be taken out for a walk. When they
need the toilet they are let out into the garden and have to do their business out there - to make matters worse it is then left in a trail going up the garden path for a couple of weeks before they can be bothered to clear it up.

They both work and the dogs are left alone for long periods at a time, even when they return home they are generally only in for an hour or so before they go out for the evening and don't return until the early hours. Because the dogs don't like being left they used to wreck the lounge so they are now sent upstairs to the bedroom next to ours where they howl and bark until somebody returns.

To make this even worse when we tried to approach them about the situation we were sworn at and threatened not to tell them how to look after their F***ing dogs - fortunately as the dogs have got older they no longer bark so much and as the dogs are being fed and looked after the RSPCA don't want to know.

7. People Who Let Me Down

I am a very loyal person - if I tell you that I am going to do something or be somewhere unless I am ill I will be there - even if I can't be there I will ring to let you know that I'm not coming. I have a friend who I really like but she has a very nasty habit of promising to meet me and then not turning up - after I've waited for her for about an hour and tried to ring her without success she will suddenly ring and inform me that she has overslept or has a migraine - two weeks later I find out that she has actually gone out elsewhere and rather than tell me that she has other plans she has lied - I would much rather be told the truth and would have far more respect for her if she told me the truth. Sometimes we all get a better offer and wish that we didn't have to do something else - a simple phone call is all it takes to prevent letting somebody down.

8. Being Hassled by Sales Men

I really hate it when a sales man turns up on the doorste
p and tries to sell me something. If it is a double glazing salesman I normally them him that I'm only renting and they soon go away. However, the utility services reps are a real nuisance as even if you tell them that you rent they continue to hassle you as a tenant has the right to choose who supplies their gas and electricity. Despite trying to be polite and saying no thank you I have had reps that have stuck their foot in my front door to prevent me shutting it on them - if I wanted to change supplier I would have contacted them!!

The other sales tactic that annoys me is when I receive a phone call that tells me that I recently completed a survey and suggested that I was looking to reduce my mortgage payments - when I tell the rep that I did not complete a survey and am not interested in changing my mortgage over they hassle me and basically tell me I must be stupid to want to pay more money as they can save me large amounts every month - again if I wanted to change I would contact them!!!

9. People Who Wear White Trousers With Thongs

I'm sure many males and even some females will be totally disagreeing with me here but I really hate to see a bare arse on display by women wearing a pair of tight white trousers. I think a knicker line is far more attractive and has got to be far more comfortable for the wearer. There are some really pretty sexy knickers about without having to resort to cutting yourself in half and flashing your arse off in a supposedly sexy thong.

10. Burglars and Thieves

Some of you will know that in June we were unfortunate enough to return home from holiday to find that we had been burgled. Somebody had thrown a bit of concrete through our double glazed patio door in broad daylight but nobody heard a thing!!!

The scummy people that burgle others have absolutely no thought for those that they hurt, our son was devastated to find that we had been burgled and did not want to st
ay in the house for several days until we could convince him that it had been safely secured. For weeks after I was afraid of entering the house alone, even in broad daylight.

We had lots of personal and jewellery items stolen and many of those things were irreplaceable as they were items received for christening or birthday presents - no amount of insurance will replace my christening bracelet or the bangle I received from my parents for my 21st birthday.

What really annoys me about the whole situation is that we had to pay a £50 excess fee on our insurance policy for the privilege of being able to make a claim because some B**tard had decided to burgle us - as if we hadn't already suffered enough.

I feel quite worked up and agitated now so I'm off to make a cup of tea and calm down.

Thanks for reading.

Julie

Hear, hear!! My son was bullied too and reading about your son brought back all the anger I felt back then ... glad to hear things are getting better for him.

Re the thong thing ... isn't ghastly when you see someone bending down and over the top of their trousers show a vast expanse of bum cut up but that hideous strip of nylon ... eugh!!

And yes burglars are vile ... I was burgled just before xmas 2 years ago and not only did the swines open all my neatly wrapped presents under the tree and steal things but the insurance company took nearly a year to get my door fixed properly.
