I cannot understand why people are so cruel to animals? It is beyond me how people can neglect an animal or even harm one, whatever the reason they did it there isn't any justification. About three weeks ago, I noticed this cat about two years old hanging around, It was getting really annoying as it was forever ripping bin bags open, hunting for something to eat, I let it pass and just cleared the rubbish away. Then last Tuesday night I was returning from my weekly shopping trip to tesco, and I noticed this little cat huddled up out side my house, It was so scared and would not come out, I went in and got a plate full of whiskers, much to my cats disappointment, I took it out side and gave it to this poor little cat. When the cat finally found the courage to come out, I was gob smacked, it was all skin and bone and had not eaten for ages, and I assumed that I had found the culprit that was ripping my bin bags, but all that was forgiven as soon as I saw the state of this poor little thing. I noticed that it was a boy and he had a collar on, but no address, so I could not contact the owners not that a would have done, given the state of him. I carried on feeding him, wondering if he would go home, but no he would sit on the door step and when I went out he would follow, I must admit he is a very cute little thing but very timid. I phoned the R.S.P.C.A and they came to get the cat, they said that the cat was suffering from malnutrition and dehydration; I told them that I thought the owners lived near by but I wasn't sure. The man from the R.S.P.C.A picked up the cat, now named socks, and put him in to the back of the van. I felt awful socks just looked so scared. Socks had some treatment and was fine within a few days, he just needed fattening up, that's what I was told when I phoned to see if he was ok, I was also told that they didn't think that socks would be wanted by anyone as he was
quite old and very skinny, and people tend to go for the younger healthier cats. So with that I asked what would happen to him they said they would hold him for a while, and if he didn?t find a family they would have no choice but to put him to sleep. I told the R.S.P.C.A that I would have socks, and I went straight down there and got him, it may be me but I thought that he looked so pleased to see me. I went out and brought him a few bit to help him feel at home, but I have had a few problems so far, but not with socks with my other cat Levi, she doesn't like him at all, but she will get used to him in time, I hope. I feel that the R.S.P.C.A could have done more to help socks, I felt like I had no choice but to take him, although I am very glad I did he is becoming one of the family already, and he just adores McDonalds. The owners of socks can not be traced, but I don?t think that R.S.P.C.A have tried hard enough to pin point them. But I can tell you if I ever find out who they are I will have a few select words to say to them. Socks has only been with me three days now, so he is still very shy and skinny, but I promise I will up date this review to let you know how he's doing. Thank you for reading. Bubbles.

- 07/08/02 Only one circumstance where I can understand cruelty to animals - killing slugs in a garden is fine by me.
But, yes, I'm a sucker for stray kittens myself. |
