Rugby League or Rugby Union?Newest Review: ... again. I will say that Union is a very hard game in the forwards as the scrums and ruck's are very physical and you pick up a lot of knocks playing in these areas, however the game just seems to stand still whilst they take place. In the back's you hardly ever saw the ball and when you did half the time you were expected to kick it. At international level you do see some good open play but ... more |

What's the best game between Rugby league & Rugby Union? Well I guess that depends who you ask and which game they were bought up with either playing or watching. I have played Rugby Union for a few years back when I was at school, and Rugby league at school and for my local town for about three years, in my opinion both to play and watch there is only one that is worth it and that is Rugby League. Rugby Union is the more complicated of the two with far too many rules that slow they game down with constant interference from the referee, for infringements that most spectators don't even understand. The kicking game in union whilst being very good is ... Read the complete review

Well I am coming at this from a Rugby League fan!!!! :-D From growing up in a League town of Widnes, I have always been a Vikings fan, and followed rugby league, and because of that, Union has never really been anything which I have followed. Rugby League and Union aren't really much different if we're totally honest, the aim of the game is the same, and the set out of the pitch is the same, there are two teams of 13 team members in league and 15 in union each. The aim is for one team to get past the other to get a try, which is when the ball is touched down on the grass behind the try line, and then convert the try by kicking the ball over the goal posts ... Rugby League may have been a professional sport for longer but that does not make it a better sport. I have to admit that i am biased towards Rugby Union after playing it for school, club and county. I think that Rugby Union is an amazing game to play. It is an incredible complex and challenging game but the same could be argued for Rugby League. I have only played a few friendly games of Rugby League but i found it very physically and mentally demanding. Rugby League is an easier game for a novice non-player to watch and understand but if you have any interest in rugby you would be more interested in watching Rugby Union. There are a lot of complex rules but when ... Read the complete review

For starters League is more professional, and not very amateurish like Union is. The fact NZ dominate RU is a joke for a country so small. Rugby League also has proper internationals with the majority of each team consisting of players who are citizens of that country - not necessarily playing in that country though. Rugby Union international teams are full of 2nd rate Aussie and Kiwis who are playing in Italy or wherever because they are too crap to play anywhere else. For some reason that qualifies them to play for that team. In League that isn't allowed and rightly so, they should actually have a connection to that country, not just flown ... Now I could make this whole thing surprisingly easy for myself, because I can encapsulate the whole thing in a simple sentence if you like. Rugby League is probably the better game of the two to watch, while undoubtedly Rugby Union is the better game to play. Okay, 'nuff said.... Oh, you're still there, I see. Okay, I'll give you a bit of a fuller explanation. When I was a lad, I used to play Rugby Union at school, and loved every minute of it, eventually working my way up to actually playing for my county. At the same time, my brother-in-law ...
