I first started running (fast jogging) just over a month ago and have been amazed by how much my level of fitness has increased. Already I wake up earlier, don't feel so grogg-y in the morning, don't tire so easily, and generally feel more alert. I would recommend anyone who is looking to increase their fitness to take up jogging.

To start off I would say jog for about 2 miles (approx 15-20 minutes) twice a week and then after 2 weeks or so you can probably manage 3 times a week. The most important part is to jog at a pace you can keep up the whole time (I recommend you start out very slowly, soon you will learn how fast you can jog). You will soon learn how much you need/want to do, and 3 times a week seems a good limit for someone just looking to get fit.

I know some people run with walkman's so that they have something to listen to, but I find this is awkward and makes it harder to jog. If you think it sounds a bit boring to go running by yourself why not get a friend to jog with you. This is what I like to do.

Try it and you'll feel the gain within 1 week.
