Pete Sampras is a tennis player in his own league, this year he was knocked out o Wimbledon, but yet his status amongst his fans is legendary. His image is good amongst his fans, though his critics and those who commentate on him still manage to find faults in him. He has won twelve grand slams in his career, and is continuing to break records. Could it be that "pistol" Pete Sampras is running out of steam? He never looked dominant at Wimbledon this year. Before he was knocked out by one of the younger set coming through, he went to 5 sets with one of our lower ranked Brits. Sampras used to be the dominant force in world tennis, especially when it came to Wimbledon. But this year he crashed out in the fourth round to the relatively unknown Roger Federer. This was in addition to a 5 set epic in the second round against the British hopeful B.Cowan, where Sampras eventually emerged victorious with a score of 6-3, 6-2, 6-7, 4-6, 6-3.
