Advantages: We want to see history in the making....

Disadvantages: ....not the most charismatic of figures really.

He has rarely played badly and seemingly knows the limits of most of his opponents’ games. He knows what THEY’RE capable of but more importantly he knows what HE’S capable of.

With his phenomenally successful serve and volley technique and his 'slam-dunking' shots (the one where he jumps up in the air to retrieve a high ball and hits it beyond the reach of his opponent), he has frustrated many a player who have found out, the hard way that Sampras can simply be too good.

A very weak criticism I've happened upon is the concern over his infamous service actions, where he looks up to sight his targeted spot where he's going to place the ball, brandishing his racket menacingly, raisng his foot a little and 'slamming' home an ace....isn't that what tennis players are supposed to do!?

He seemingly cannot be stopped by an injury (as proved during Wimbledon 2000) unless it’s serious and it is a sad fact that since 1993 onwards, there have rarely been anyone who has managed to outplay him and succeed in beating him.

He is a great player and the future looks daunting as a new era of tennis may be stillborn by the fact that this man will still be around to dominate proceedings.
