Advantages: Very robustand very safe.
Disadvantages: ?
In July this year (2008) I got my hands on a Samsonite suitcase which apparently cost my daughter around £80 but was actually worth nearly £150.
My daughter passed it on to me for my holiday in Tenerife as she and her hubby had just recently bought a matching luggage set and my old case was looking a bit worse for wear.
It has always really just been a matter of a case is a case to me when I bought a suitcase but I can immediately see the quality difference between any of my old cases and this Samsonite one.
The samsonite I have is known as the Samsonite sky wheeler I believe and it has hard sides which do not even flex if I put my full weight on them so no need to worry about the baggage handlers at the airport who seem to enjoy playing how far can we throw a case?
Inside it has elasticated partitions on the side like many cases do but the samsonite ones are much stronger and can actually hold things in place rather than just stretching, the whole case is very well made and extremely robust.
As well as being tough as old boots it is also very safe as it has a combination lock rather than having to rely on tiny padlocks that I always lose the key for.
I would urge anyone travelling and looking for a new case to look at the samsonite`s, they may be expensive but they are an investment not just a purchase because they will last a long, long time!
Summary: An investment not just a purchase!

- 26/11/08 Mine was clearly dropped from a great height and ruined the first time I used it. BA paid for a replacement and this too is battered and dented, I think because they are hard cases the baggage handlers treat them even worse as they think they are indestructable. They're not. |

- 26/11/08 I had a Samsonite suit carrier that virtually disintegrated so I wasn't best pleased! |
