Advantages: Special offers ideal for larger families or those who wish not to wait until the last minute

Disadvantages: Can be killed in the rush of people buying suntan lotion or bikinis

I know that children have only just left school for the summer. I know they have a total of 6/7 weeks off but starting to buy stationery bits and bobs early helps to make the holiday easier.

How can buying these early help, you may ask? Well as soon as the schools shut everyone is either holidaying or planning what to do on the weeks ahead.

Personally I have 2 sons who have both birthdays in july and August so buying school Stationery bits make ideal presenmts along with more exciting pressies too.

Many shops now have those 'Buy 1 get 1 free' offers or discounts for more than one. By purchsing at the beginning of the holidays there is
a) more things available
b) more money available
c) more offers that no-one is interested in because most tend to wait until the last minute.

Also buying school uniforms early can be better because sizes are more widespread and not out of stock. Although alternately if you can save your money until the last 2 weeks they come down in price because of winter clothing arriving in shops.

Not sure how to rate it but have a VU anyway as it was a thrifty tip indeed. Actually prices now are far cheaper than they will be come the end of the holidays when the rush sets in.... by that point people are panicking and the prices are hiked in radiness :) Steve
