Paul Scholes Discussion

Newest Review: ... in 1993. Unfortunately that was to be the only honours he ever gained with England. Scholes has played 405 games for Manchester United scoring 96 goals, he began as a prolific attacking midfielder who could play in the hole or up front, and was possibly at his peak as the Attacking fulcrum balanced by Roy Keane in the all conquering treble winning United team in 1998-99. Unfortunately for both players they missed the Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich through suspension. He is still an important member of the United team today but is able to play some, not all games and control them with his vision, drive and passing... more

One of the great unsung players of the last decade, Paul Scholes is admired around the world as the most technically gifted English footballer of his generation. Brought through the same Manchester United youth team as David Beckham, Gary and Phillip Neville and Nicky Butt, Scholes has proved to be one of Sir Alex Ferguson's most influential and loyal players. Paul Scholes signed for United youth team on 8 July 1991 and turned professional 18 months later on 23 July 1993, he won an F.A.Youth Cup winners' medal in 1992 and a runners up medal in the same competition a year later. He was also a member of the England under-18 team which won the European ...  Read the complete review

born in 1974, paul scholes is a mancunian thru and thru joining manchester united as a youngster in 1991. His debut followed in 1994 with a 3-2 defeat to Ipswich. along with the magic midfield that united had in the latter part of the 90's - giggs, keane, scholes and beckham scholes became part of a team that dominated the early half of the premierships history. a comparision to scholes at his height can be made to Stevie G, powerfull runs into the edge of the box followed by a powerdriver into the net, however Gerard looks set to eclipse scholes in international recognition. more recently the form of Scholes has been linked with a ...  Read the complete review

As much as it pains me at times to admit it but Manchester United really do have some talented players and the main bonus from this is that a number of them are English. Although the focus has always been on David Beckham whether it was at United or for England I always felt there was a player in both teams who quite simply was a harder worker, more skilful and all round better player than Beckham. I am of course talking about Paul Scholes a player who keeps himself to himself and gets on with doing what he loves. He's a born and bread Mancunian being from the Salford area of the city he was born in November 1974 he was a Oldham fan as a kid and still ...  Read the complete review

Paul Scholes is the best England player we have had for a while now, and although he is going to face tough competition for a place in the Manchester United Squad I believe he has what it takes to remain at the top level, on top of his game, keeping is position in the first team, week in, week out, and I know that he'll be one of the most influential England players. Paul Scholes has been at Manchester United for a while now, he's won many championships with them, as well as European and domestic cups and trophies and I feel that without him they would not be in the commanding position that they're in. As a Liverpool supporter, I feel that ...  Read the complete review

Of the current squad no one epitomises the spirit of Manchester United more than Paul Scholes. The ultimate professional, dedicated, passionate and committed, he is the type of player who makes a managers life easy. Committed to the red cause, and vastly gifted, and always working to improve his game he is one of the most popular players at the club. Strangely, his future was not always at Old Trafford. Back in 1995 when Scholesy was still playing as a striker, Fergie offered him in a player plus money deal to bring Wolves defender Dean Richards to Manchester. Luckily Wolves turned the deal down, and the two players have seen their careers go in vastly opposite ...  Read the complete review
